Comment here with why people should follow you, lets get this follow train going!

in usersummary •  8 years ago  (edited)

I previously made a thread about myself titled:
What to expect as a follower of "#TheDashGuy"; Whats my goal on Steemit? What do I want to write about? What subjects am I knowledgable in?

https://steemit.com/thedashguy/@thedashguy/what-to-expect-as-a-follower-of-thedashguy-whats-my-goal-on-steemit-what-do-i-want-to-write-about-what-subjects-am-i

But that got me thinking, why doesn't everyone do something like this seeing as we don't have a sort of "bio" or about me section as you find on most social media websites.. but making these kinds of posts take planning, effort, and alot of thought because who wants to post 4 sentences as a full article honestly? I know some people have already done a post of this type but most people have nowhere to just write a brief description about what they plan to blog about on Steemit without coming off as spammy...

So I thought why not just start a "What to expect from me" megathread? Post as much as you'd like, or write your own post and link it here!

This way 4 sentences is acceptable, we can all basically say "Hey, I'm TheDashGuy, I live in Washington and I plan to be posting about legal cannabis, web design, crypto currencies (Bitcoin/Dash/Steem) & overall just hanging out." and so on, this way we have an area where 4 sentences is acceptable, or if you choose you can go all out and write 4 paragraphs for us, make a post about it, then just drop the link here! Whatever floats your boat.

We could even get a hashtag similar to #introduceyourself going and just make it something like #usersummary or whatever as well to organize this stuff!

Looking forward to seeing everyones "brief descriptions" and/or long posts about their #Steemit future, I need more people to follow! (and more followers!) I bet we have alot more variety around here than we expect already...

Love the idea. I'm here with my wife and my father and trying to drag in first the kids and then the whole clan. I write about AI and programming, the wife about bees and being a nurse practitioner. We both follow anyone who follows us so if you need more eyes . . . .

AI and programming?! My cup of tea! Followed!

I already follow you . . . . :-)

What do you normally program in? Have you done any AI programming? I'll be recruiting for small tasks shortly. Would you have any interest?

I've mostly been doing web dev and mobile and embedded. But I've been intrigued with all the posts about Watson API with Python. Haven't had formal training, but trying to learn. Know any good references?

Wow thats awesome! I have also gotten a few family members in but that are a little less tech savvy and/or don't have much time to become writers haha. Totally following you guys!

Now following you as well.

Much appreciated!

Hey everyone! I've been here on Steemit for about 4 weeks now. Mostly write about cryptos, the occasional news, funny meme, and about my web apps and tools for Steemit!

Will definitely check you out bro! Followed! Looking forward to any and all web apps related to Steem :D

Thanks! I've quite a few from these two weeks.. in case you've missed them, here's my blog: https://steemit.com/@bitcoiner

Fellow steemsters might like to follow me if they have interest in yoga - (I am a teacher), spirituality, philosophy, music - (I am a song-writer), poetry, guitars, science, home-grown remedies, clean food, recipes, cooking, entrepreneurial endeavours and blockchain games; of which I am launching a not to be missed, kick ass game tomorrow at 1:11 GMT, which I am seriously excited about. I hope you can join me :)

I thought I had already followed you, but all is fixed now :D

Thanks @thedashguy, following you too :)

Hey, I'm @freewill.

I'm a musician, writer, and small business owner. I also have a degree in Psychology. I plan to post my original poems like this one, stories, music and thoughts on Psychological theories (both my reflections on other people's theories like this and ones I've come up with like this one).

I also I plan to be posting about my life... I've renovated 2 houses in Italy, a couple of boats in England, lived on a houseboat for 4 years, and enjoyed my life!

I suspect I'll probable get in to my thoughts on cryptocurrency and philosphy & whatever else pops in to my head at some point too : )

Sounds like a wonderful topic combo to me! Will definitely toss you a follow!

You should follow me because I have a dry sense of humor. My blog is full of fiction, anarchy, religion, poetry, and technical jargon; sometimes all at once. Apparently I also know how to use a semicolon, although I'm not convinced. Here are some examples of my writings that will get you totally hooked:

  1. Bob the Builder Lives in a Socialist Society
  2. Blockchain Fiction: Warner to be Executed
  3. Richard Dawkins is Misguided
  4. Valuable Wallet
  5. Them Web Loggers
  6. How the STEEM Blockchain Will Free Labor
  7. How Transporters Work
  8. Dilution: Not a Tax; Not Theft
  9. Mantra

I also follow whoever follows me, so there's that. And I welcome PMs on steemit.chat (as long as you follow me).

Now following you. Loved your Dawkins piece!

Don't follow me!

Follow people with very few followers and upvote their content.

Sorry, I've been following you for a while.

I don't follow you but I do read much of your stuff. Don't follow me, I'm fheman. And all my good stuff is in comments, not posts.

heh, pretty much.

So what you are telling me is you plan on following everyone here right? :p

Like many here I'm sure, I follow my fair share of underprivileged (or formerly) accounts that produce quality material. I doubt I will ever follow more than 70 accounts though and will likely stop following several popular accounts to reach that number. I'm going to see those accounts posts in the trending section most every time they post anyway. No need to follow those types of accounts.

Meh if you spend 4+ hours a day on Steemit, one can manage 200-300 followings I bet :p

I also think voting power dissipates too quickly, so hopefully that gets looked at one day.

And there's that too. We can only upvote so many people per day without draining our voting power. My method is to follow 50-70 accounts, upvote the posts I like in my feed and then head over to "new" and try to discover some new accounts posting good material. If they repeatedly post good stuff, I'll give them a follow.

We all have our methods I guess. I haven't really changed how I upvote from what worked prior to v8.4 when only the bot wang out curated this account (meaning we were the two biggest losers in the decision not to go with v8.2).

I'm not sure how not changing the method has worked out, but at this point I'm not really looking for curation rewards. I could never make another dime on Steemit and be very happy with the results prior to 7/4. I continue to upvote what I like.

Speaking of that, @business has recently stepped up his Steem-game and is posting some good stuff that I think others will appreciate. He's definitely worth a blip on your follow radar.

Does 71 followers count as few? If so, follow me!... Although it seems you're already a follower haha.. tho I wouldn't mind some more upvotes ;)

Please follow me -- I'm under-privileged and trying to work my way up (and trying to work my reputation back up after an ignorant mistake in one post (my second) knocked my reputation all the way down to 1.

And, if you won't follow me, please follow my wife @jwaser. She's just started and has a lot more coming . . . .

followed! P please return the favour if you like my stuff @freewill

I haven't! Perhaps you'd be kind enough to return the favour and follow me?!

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

I'll follow you. Like what you post if you want feel free to follow back @ian.wash

Hey, I'm TheDashGuy, I live in Washington and I plan to be posting about legal cannabis, web design, crypto currencies (Bitcoin/Dash/Steem) & overall just hanging out... but beyond all that basic stuff I also like sports. Mostly just Basketball & Football like everyone else lol. I've been known to play some ultimate frisbee or soccer here and there. I am the oldest of 5 siblings, just became an uncle about 5 days ago, and I was adopted at the age of 15 by a friends family. I have spent the last year or so working on projects in the Dash ecosystem and I hope to bring that same value to Steem as well. I won't go into too much detail as this post is about everyone else but yea thats me in a nutshell. I have narrowed down my writing ideas to a few subjects mainly but I might write about a random thing from my life from time to time as well.

Is that Washington State or Washington, DC? I'm in Northern Virginia . . . .

Washington State, my bad lol I always write about how I'm from Seattle etc so I just made the assumption it was known, I keep forgetting how fast we keep growing.... it's crazy!

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Why follow me?

Maybe because I'm a creative person by nature, restless and always finding new ways to express feelings, emotions, and thoughts...

Cheers!

Edit: @mark-waser asked for a little bit more.... maybe this? ;)

Now following you. You should have put a longer comment here. I only followed you because I am taking the time to actually go to blogs and seeing what is there (and then following about 1/3rd of the people posting her).

  ·  8 years ago (edited)

Sometimes less is more, sometimes when you see something but you don't see the full of it, usually it makes it better. For example, sometimes a woman is sexier with lingerie than with it ;)

Looks like if you read it, spike your interest (uhhh i'm sexy!) and you're following, I guess my comment and strategy paid off ;)

Cheers!

cool video! I've followed you, please consider returning the favour : )

Great freaking idea my man! Followed!

Because I am different from the majority. My mission is not to make money and consume as much as possible. I feel my mission is to use my capital to set up some sort of system that profits but still allows me to feed many people outside of my family.

I have recently come to the realization that with the way I think I basically have 1 option. Farming/food production. Although I am not currently strong enough willed to remove meat from my diet, I believe we are intelligent enough as a species to figure out how to get the majority of our protein without having to make another life suffer, and I follow the same philosophy with money. I don't believe someone has to lose for someone else to profit, but I understand why the powerful hands set it up that way to keep themselves in power.

Some day I will be rich, I am already rich in family but someday I will have much capital. I am already self employed for over a year finding ways to scrape money together through various online outlets like Amazon, Ebay, Craigslist, etc. I am not rich and I currently live under the federal poverty level, but I am not worried.

Why should people follow me? Hmm, I am too honest to make something up. I am not much of a content creator currently, it's not my strong suit. But either way, hello everyone :).

I like the realness of your posting style, followed! :p

A generous observation, much appreciated!

Didn't even look at your posts. Followed you anyways because I want you to succeed . . . .

There are going to be MANY ways to make money on Steemit for honest effort. I'm working hard on making them possible (and making a living for myself doing so). You should also follow @digital-wisdom. It is my single-family company for doing just that . . . .

And let me flip over there and add another penny reward to your reply (and make your following this account easier ;-)

You forgot the URL http://wisdom.digital and I saw that naked ladies comment . . . . and another penny for foxy :-)

followed!

I am a long time veteran of the early days of internet forums, mostly psychedelic and drug related, and after I got a bit older, I became very interested in Austrian Economics and revisiting stuff from my late teens, stuff about cyberpunk, network systems, the future, and this sort of thing.

I ended up in a lot of trouble in Bulgaria a few years ago, and after a year in jail, spent another 2 years living on the streets. Then I got a job. I just quit that job, and now I am in a desperate, although I am doing my best to stay calm, mission to find a way to avoid being back on the street, and avoid ending up working under some petty tyrant bully manager in some outsource business in Sofia.

If you read some of my earlier posts here, you can learn about a couple of big ideas I have had in the last few years, specifically a possible electrical impulse generation device (and associated physics hypothesis) and some ideas about what I guess I would call 'Internet 2.0', a complete secondary, anonymised, cryptographically secured, peer to peer system.

Thanks for following me, and I like to reciprocate, I figure anyone who likes my stuff, I probably am gonna like their stuff.

Very interesting! I have had a chance to read many of your posts, but I will follow you and make sure to poke around in a little bit, seems like you have a wonderful amount of life experience that people could learn from! Looking forward to it my man and I hope you the very best!

Seen you a lot in comments and followed. Good luck with your ideas! :-)

Love this idea, was wondering about a bio section, but a thread like this is a good start.

I'm a professional poker and daily fantasy sports player. I've been on steemit for about 10 days and have mostly written about my poker experiences, but I started a continuing blog series aimed towards increasing mathematical literacy which teaches how to do mathematics and logic proofs, occasionally write about cryptos, and will write about other subjects that interest me such as astrophysics, sports, and computer gaming.

my latest article/blog is on my second big live poker win and how it was the most devastating experience in a 10 year playing career: https://steemit.com/money/@daut44/a-poker-paradox-sometimes-winning-can-hurt-more-than-losing

you can check out the rest of my blog here: https://steemit.com/@daut44

What's up @daut44? Your last article was rad! Glad to see you posting your interesting poker stories here on Steemit..

Thanks man, but it seems I am not very good at promoting them haha.

Now following.

Great idea! I think I can make followers happy by providing them with beautiful photographs regularly. I love the feeling I get when I look at great photographs, and I hope I can give you a good feeling too!

If you want to see some of my work, check out my profile by clicking here. You can follow me by clicking alt-text in the upper right!

My introduction is up right now, too, so come check that out!

Hey your good with markdown . How you put that follow sign in there . I'm still trying to learn all this.

Good idea, @thedashguy!

by the way, y'all can follow me as I occassionally write about tips and ideas for creating a beautiful garden. I am a professional gardener and all my photos are from on the job or from my back yard. I was an early adopter by accident (2 degrees of separation kind of thing), so I think I started the whole gardening category- turns out a lot of folks out there are pysched to show off their vegetable gardens!
My posts are light and fun and also hopefully informative!! Happy gardening!!

Love it! Followed!

It is hard for me to narrow what I am writing about to four words, so this is going ro be long winded. But before I start, the summary for next several months is that I post travel photos, and plan on telling stories about my crazy and weird adventures.

I am proverbial jack-of-all trades, having an engineering background, but working as massage therapist. I used to work tech support in an online casino as well as for big disaster recovery software company, print books, worked in a cartoon studio as well as with the on air team of an economic news cannel on tv. Sysadmined for a huge fitness club, managed in a translation agency, was a part of the first UX lab in Russia, translated an erotic novel (it was bad grade porn actually, don't ask), coded for a MUD back in the day, worked for an art gallery in the center of Moscow, and perhaps did some more less interesting and significant things that have slipped my mind. Oh, right. I participated in quite a few Free Software things as an early adopter & beta tester.

I am an RPG and computer geek, but I prefer my tabletop games weird. Think Nobilis, or Universalis. I travel quite a bit. Sometimes a voice in my head compels me to help people in need.
It is possible to expect some of the above. Oh, right. I also come fro Buryat background, with my cousine being a shaman. It is possible, that I'll have to follow suit (do trip sit a lot, as well as trip guide). So far I started throat singing.
Oh, right. In my adventures I carry a big stash of small musical instruments (jaw harps, kazoos, harmonicas) so I can jam with people a the drop of a hat. Sometimes I sample weird sounds.
That is probably it. Oh, I am also really into semi-precious stones. Gems are cool! Sustainable agriculture, economy & the like are also cool.

Not sure if you can expect any or all of that. I'll write a post once I am sure.

I love how inclusive you're being by inviting others to promote themselves, @thedashguy. I'm in Washington State, too. Let me know if you ever want to collaborate on something local. Maybe I can help.

I'm pulpably and I have fallen in drunk love with Steemit. Expect everything about my posts to evolve as I figure out how I can be most relevant, here. My most recent post A Third Culture Perspective of the Tug of War Between Being Unintentionally Rude and Politically Correct is a peace-making explanation of how so many of the things that ruffle our feathers are impulses that come from culture and can be totally ignored.

My next plan is to write an introduction of rhetorical fallacies to help Steemarians build strong arguments and not waste each other's time.
I see Steemit as a conversation gone Mandelbrot and am mind-blown at the possibility of being a part of it. Thanks for following!

Love it! Where about in Washington are you? I am working on a billboard in Downtown Seattle, but the recent price drop has me delayed.

Smart! I saw your post about the billboard and the location looked ideal. If I'm right, it's between Capitol Hill and Cornish College on Denny? It could be fun to try to include the college by holding a t-shirt design contest or something of the sort. In any case, I'm interested in helping out, if I can.

I'm in the fields beyond Vader, a tiny town just off I-5 between Chehalis and Castlerock. It's a drive, but I make trips to Seattle and Portland every so often. It's kind of wonderful being in-between. :)

Following!

Thanks @thedashguy for the idea and blog/story/platform to get this in motion. Here are the topics I would like to casually share and hope some of you will consider following me, reading up on my posts, and I'll be happy to return the favor: Controversy, Quantum Computing, Cyberpunk, Futurology, Artificial Intelligence, History, Electronics, Computers, Space, Science, Politics, Religion, Longevity, DIY, Dooms Day, Video Games, Virtual Reality, Discoveries, Exploration, and many more. Thanks in advance! @ruscion

No, thank YOU for participating!

What do you want me to write about? I am my mind. Some words of me: Born 2 months premature, logical genius, Eagle Scout, gentle man/soul, Meningitis last year, owned a game & collectibles store, lived in the city, mountains, & in the woods, most avid poker player, chess, video games, knowledge, philosophy, 42, seeker of understanding, Math: geometry, trig, do calculus in my head, science: biology, chemistry (A on scaled final), physics, anatomy & physiology, investor, explorer, learner, perfect scores on some Mensa logical tests.
@virtualgrowth
<3 Namaste <3

Wow, quite a list! Lots of variety, followed!

Yes ... where shall I start?, lol

@thedashguy Cool idea. I am @domavila and live right by the beach in Long Beach, CA. I mainly write about trading and technical analysis, I do in depth TA on crypto-currencies and Forex, and I dig it when people comment and ask questions because I enjoy helping people understand trading and TA. . You can check out my most recent analysis here.

Also, I produce music and play all the instruments in my songs unless I am sampling. I dig sports, especially basketball(Lakers) and soccer/futbol (Barca), skateboarding, love marijuana and music and of course social media.

If you want consistent analysis on Steem, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies come give me a follow and remember to comment.

Followed!

Nice!!

This post is a great idea. I have just scrolled through the comments and followed several that I wasn't already following. I just posted an intro piece this morning so I'll share that. I expect to be writing about a variety of subjects. I tend to explore whatever catches my attention.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@shadowspub/shadowspub-intro-to-the-steemit-community-please-don-t-let-me-scare-you-away

Thanks! That was my goal, just trying to find cool people to follow!

Great idea. I was just talking about something like this with @steevc earlier this morning. Possibly starting the FollowFriday hash tag and posting are most active and interesting steemit users in a post each Friday.

Anyway, I really haven't come to terms with how I'm going to utilize the steemit platform. I know I'll be posting mostly about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. I'm also thinking about utilizing it for more personal posts about me. Maybe including thoughts, recipes of things I cook, touch on the occasional political post. I'd like to be able to introduce people to the more personal side of The Dood, like I did on Tsū. For now I'm just trying to get a feel for the platform, and having fun posting whatever I think my readers will enjoy. Oh, and getting the latest haps from the DASH space from the @thedashguy and @taoofsatoshi Let the good times roll!

Is it like a series of posts, when people go through who they follow for a while, and promote those who they feel diserve more followers? Great idea, something I'll participate in a week or couple, after I get my bearings.

Basically we would create a category called followfriday and in the post you put something like :

Check out these super interesting, active steemers! @the-bitcoin-dood @xanoxt @etcEtcEtc

If you wanted to you could say a little something about each person and what they blog about. Ex:

@the-bitcoin-dood blogs mostly about cryptocurrency and everything going on in the altcoin space.
@xanoxt has an interesting travel blog dedicated to the places traveled to with some beautiful stories and images of the various places visited.
@etcEtcEtc blogs about blah blah blah, whatever, I checked there is no @etEtcEtc don't want to offend anyone. LOL

You can do it anyway you want, but that's the general idea. The important part is to use the tag followfriday when we submit it. Then you just follow the folks that you find interesting and your friends recommend.

We live in a fucked up world that lacks common empathy for the rest of the human race. Forums like steemit can change that, i want to be apart of said change!!! I also read content that relates to real world issues. So if you post content like that please leave a comment below and you have my follow! :D

DO NOT CLICK HERE YOU BAD PERSON!

Hi from Berlin, long time Dash fan and proud to nodl, I am happy to welcome newcomers to crypto and am thankful to Steemit for the opportunity to do so. Ich werde vermutlich meistens auf Deutsch posten.

Welcome welcome welcome! Followed!

I tweet about crypto currencies and I have about 450 twitter followers & am listed 116 times - DASH is my favorite crypto and this is my first post on steemit ! https://steemit.com/@goodcore < make sure to follow

Glad to have you here my dash bro! Followed of course!

Was about to follow you but saw you have no post u.u.

I do have one now ; )

Heya I post about my daily life, crypto, mining steem, developement and some pictures and a little about 3d printing, i always follow back as well.

Why me?

I write about the things I feel I'm knowledgable about (at least more so than others) as thats where I can contribute and where I'd probably focus my effort...

  • Dogs & Dog Training - I've trained, handled, and bred working german shepherd dogs in scent work, obedience, and protection work. I'm also an active decoy/helper (the dude who wears the sleeve/suit and gets bitten by dogs)
  • Entrepreneurship - I've started a number of business. I've learned a great deal as a result. Its brought me a great deal of happiness and success (success being more than just financial success)
  • Computer Science & Technology - Particular interest in AI and distributed computing. Background in software/systems engineering, information assurance and security. In graduate school and afterwards I focused a lot of energy on Freemium economics and big data analytics, particularly using the latter on the former.
  • Freedom & Libertarianism - because taxation is theft, and its my life to do with what I choose.
  • Preserving Wealth - because inflation is theft. Precious metals, cryptocurrencies, alternative stores of wealth, etc.
  • Whatever gets a laugh - because thats as important as all the above

Great summary!

I post random shit from drunken songs on guitar to daft cooking with chillis. I wish I could be more focused but random is what I am!

Haha thank you! lol sounds like good fun :D

@thedashguy, this is a fantastic community-building idea and I absolutely love it! Building connections between Steemit users is super important right now and I can't see a better way than networking follows like this.

That being said, hi guys! I'm @beowulfoflegend, a professional freelance writer and very-small-time published author. My feed is mostly fiction, articles about the art of writing, and the occasional slice-of-life blog post, usually in the vein of my geeky hobbies. Every once and a while I do get serious though!

While I'm out at the moment, I'm totally chiming back here later and expanding my follow feed with you fine folks!

Great idea @thedashguy! I'm Moa from Sweden @givemeyoursteem, I recently fled the rat race to live on an island and will write more about island life, running, health, science, creations in the kitchen, organic farming and more. Also, follow me for news about the Steemit Food Challenge! :)

Political Party: Freedom

Married to a beautiful, unusually understanding wife. There is no doubt this relationship was destined to be, and I am reminded of that blessing everyday. Blessed.

Actively seeking ways to hardfork humanity through the use of technology, nature, and the system that is the universe. Only dam thing about these systems is that we have to understand how they work first before we can use their power, but I am fortunate enough to work with a beautiful group of people who I blessed to spend my days with figuring out how we can better lives through technology. Its pretty cool.

Inspirations: Nikola Tesla, Everyone who failed thousands of times and got it right once, Satoshi and his intentions for the blockchain and bitcoin.
Finances, Politics, Health and Media Inspirations: Peter Schiff, the late Irwin Schiff, Dr Ron Paul, Robert Kiyosaki, Jeff Berwick, any alternative media organisation, in news and health, that is not corporate funded, and is funded by the people, those guys are my day to day heros!

All of this could change tomorrow of course ;)

Goals eh?

That'd take a post in and of itself to list, so lets keep it simple.

Follow me if you don't want to miss out on any of my content. My blog and comments speak for themselves, and they'd probably tell you more than a thousand words!

I enjoy writing about and discussing Health, Science, Psychology, Neurology, Economics and Games - but I'm open to many other subjects. Feel free to drop by in one of my topics to say Hi - I love interacting with my commentors and followers.

We're a couple of crazy sisters! follow us for food posts!

gotta love a good food post! Followed : ) Do you guys luck fresh truffles? I recently set up a company importing and selling them...

First @thedashguy brilliant idea and thank you!

I've read through so many great replies, even followed some to check out later. (Nearing the end of a long day for me.)

I'm @sykochica and I'm a steem addict...wait wrong place for that. Lol

Seriously though, the best self descriptor I have is complicated. I've spent nearly half my life enthralled with trying to fit together concepts and methods to bring us a little closer to utopia (the ideal.) While nothing is ever perfect I find it important to at least have an idea of what we want, so we can know when were going in the right direction.

My topics can cover from philosophy, psychology, education theory, and sometimes a sprinkling of spirituality. I define G-d as the everything/universe and wonder what we may be not be tuned into yet. Yet I'm also open to the possibility that there is nothing, but that's boring to talk about.

I look forward to the many great discussions to come.

Hooray for the raving generalist agnostic optimist! :P

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. What i find interesting with the early adopters on steemit is that they all carry a certain air of natural disruptive personalities.. and not to disturb to cause a disturbance but rather to set the record straight, and a disruption the natural result. lets rock this boat :)

Interesting idea! A few lines, a bit like the personal statement at the top of your CV.
