I will aim to provide this report on a weekly basis, with a look at the previous weeks data and more historical data to compare and contrast.
This will allow contributors and employees of utopian.io to keep in touch with how the platform is progressing with regards to approval percentages and number of Contribution Types being submitted.
Assumptions
In this report, 'Approved' contributions have been voted on by @utopian-io.
'Rejected' contributions have not received a vote from @utopian-io.
1. Contributions Summary
For the week, 9th - 15th February 2018 inclusive, the SteemSQL DataBase holds a total of 3173 potential contributions to utopian-io. This is a 24% Increase on the previous weeks' total which was 2558.
1873 of these contributions have been approved, 588 (46%) more than the previous weeks' total of 1285.
The approval percentage of 59% is up 9% from last week.
The Contributions offered can be any one of the following types:
This weeks data, split into Contribution types is shown in the pie chart below:
This week, 'Translations' has regained top spot at the most contributed category, 'Ideas' falls back to 2nd, and 'Graphics' holds it's position in 3rd.
2 Contributions by Type
In this section we take a look a few of the individual contribution types of interest.
A full list of contribution types is listed further below with associated figures and analysis.
Translations - Approvals / Rejections
Last week we saw a huge fall in both contributions and the success rates of these submissions, but the reverse has taken place this week.
The number of submissions has more than doubled since last week, and we have an approval rate of 88%, up 22% from the previous data collection window.
Although the total submission count for 'Translations' are far from highs seen in the past, this approval percentage is the highest since the project began.
Analysis - Approvals / Rejections
This week the 'Analysis' contribution category has seen a sharp rise in submissions when compared to the last 6 weeks, this is shown in the graph below.
However, the rise in submissions has not been reflected in the the number of approvals, which has stayed at 14, and averages at 13.5 over the past 4 weeks of data.
Due to the approval numbers not rising this week, we are looking at an approval percentage of 47%, which is a new low for the 'Analysis' category.
3. All contribution types
The following table shows all types and totals of contributions submitted, with their approval % in the end column.
'Development' has again scored highly with an approval rate of 87%, this is an excellent result for the category, which continues it's excellent recent record of an approval rate higher than 4 out of every 5 contributions again this week.
A vast improvement on the previous week for the 'Social' contribution category with an 81% approval rate and 60 successful contributions. This is a 27% improvement on last weeks contribution success rate, and we have 26 more submissions to the category than last time.
Looking at the 'Blog' category, we see another poor week with numbers even lower than previously.
This week: 3 approvals, 6.8% success rate
Last week: 5 approvals, 10% success rate
Two weeks ago: 11 approvals , 12.5% success rate
The analyst would again like to stress that this category and its rules require review, as much time is seemingly being wasted by both the contributors and moderators.
'Bug hunting' has seen a reasonable improvement in successful contributions this week.
Previously:
This week:
This category has gained over 15% in the approval success rate compared to the previous week, which is sure to please both contributors and moderators alike.
4. Summary Analysis
As the weeks' pass and the data collected expands, it is possible to learn more about the developing trends in the utopian-io ecosystem.
This weeks contribution total is sharply up from the previous week, but still noticeably short of the majority of weeks prior to this.
_ | DEC 4 | JAN 1 | JAN 2 | JAN 3 | JAN 4 | JAN 5 | FEB 1 | FEB 2 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total | 3854 | 4676 | 4845 | 3511 | 4491 | 4722 | 2258 | 3173 |
App'd | 2690 | 2976 | 2522 | 2110 | 2774 | 2747 | 1285 | 1873 |
The analyst has long suggested that 5000 contributions may be a barrier to the weekly submissions total, and although we can see an improvement in numbers this week, 5000 looks a fair distance away yet.
However, with a 59% approval percentage this week, this sits nicely in the range of 55-65% as suggested by the analyst to be the on-going average approval percentage.
Summary
This past week has been better week for contributors to utopian-io. Following recent rule updates which certainly affected last weeks' figures, it seems that adoption and understanding of the changes has taken place.
Previously I wrote:
Lets hope to see an improvement in contributions and an increase in the approval percentage over the coming weeks as the new rules are slowly adapted to.
The analyst is happy to report that this has been the case and considers this past week to have been a good one for @utopian-io, and a solid foundation to build on again next week.
5. Tools used to gather this data and compile report
The data is sourced from SteemSQL - A publicly available SQL database with all the blockchain data held within.
The SQL queries to extra to the data have been produced in both SQL Server Personal Edition and LINQPAD 5. Some of the code used for these results can be found in an earlier contribution.
The charts used to present the data were produced using MS Excel.
This data was compiled on the 20th February 2018 at 10:00am (UCT)
I am part of a Steemit Business Intelligence community. We all post under the tag #blockchainbi. If you have analysis you would like to be carried out on utopian-io/Steem data, please do contact me or any of the #blockchainbi team and we will do our best to help you.

That was actually a tough decision. You showed that the analysis acceptance rate is below 50% now and I already accepted a contribution from Paula today. The stats called for a rejection ;)

Really surprised to see the approval ratio so high. I checked the tag out of curiosity once, it looked to me like it was infested from all kind of leechers and vote beggars. XD
Does your report count all utopian-io tagged posts, or just the ones submitted via utopian.io?

Only contributions submitted to Utopian-io via https://utopian.io
They will not be considered as contributions unless submitted using this link.

Interesting, my only contribution is on the blogs category and I thought it had to be one of the most popular categories as it seems to have lower technical barriers of entry.
Guess I was wrong.

Well done if you got it approved as you are certainly in the minority!
Ive not read many of these submissions but something isn't right to me - perhaps the guidelines need altering, or maybe it's just full of low quality work.

Can't believe my favourite "tutorials" section gets such a small piece of a pie. But it's obvious that utopian is drowning in translations right now...
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

Yes the rules have been sharpened in 'Tutorials' and 'Video Tutorials' recently and so the numbers have fallen.
The same is true of 'Translations' but we are back over 1000 contributions again, albeit with an excellent approval rate this week.
Cheers!

Good to see overall acxeptance rate is rising. The only drawback for this is probably all the contributor might get lower reward while @utopian voting weight remains the same to vote increased number of posts.
But all in all, such trend is good to see.

This will happen yes, but the machine stops voting at a certain vote power % and continues when back at 100%. It is something to watch down the line, and something the contributor must consider - is it worth the time or not.

@utopian-io is has become one of the fastest growing projects at Steemit and it's paying HUGE to the contributors. This is probably the only detailed report on approval or rejection and percentage increase in the content for different categories. Great effort man. You earned an upvote. Thumbs up and Steem On!

I’ve been noticing this group more and more around Steemit. I really like the fact they have great respect for the SP they either have or been delegated.
This really creates some wonderful incentive for people to put effort and creativity into things. The fact that major of categories tend to have a very low scores rate really points out the kind of things they want support and not.
I’ve seen far too many people try and game whatever community they are in. Their approach is a very wise and commendable. I need make some time to better understand this group. They are doing some great work.

Wauhhh....the approval ratio has gone high and each day users are bringing on new things for the development of the overall steemit platform.
I do also have a plan of submitting my proposal of translating steemit in Swahili to enrol a good number of people on steemit.
I'm a steemit promoter based in Uganda, I was told by @getonthetrain that you support people who promote the steemit community worldly.
Please visit the tag uganda and I'm sure you will see our growth when steemit had just less than 10 people in Uganda by November 2017.
This is the chart of our growth over the past few months.

Hello Asher, I'll have to reread this every week until it clicks. The more I learn about steemit the less sense any of it makes. Today it was pointed out that the numbers beside my name were reputation points and that they had dropped drastically from over 60 to 12. I hadn't noticed, I'm not a game-player and not even out for the sole purpose of making money. I have rendered my best at all times as I can and as I learn. So, can you explain please what is this event with my 'reputation'. I didn't even know I had one. I'm still me, and anyone who attacks others really needs to be viewed by observers as anti-steemit. I'm reading posts that tell there are bullies who mess with others. I couldn't believe it, that's like petty kids who write viruses to hard-working IT, because they can and think it funny. It just shows them as petty and small. While my rep numbers went down, my followers numbers went up¿ wtf¿ I seriously don't understand petty BS. What profit can be involved in bullying, and how does an open community police it? Can one influence others and change the rep' numbers, as I've already found name@ that uses their position to harm others? 😇

It seems you are on the wrong side of @cheetah and @steemcleaners.
Honesty, I would consider starting afresh with a new account, and not copy/pasting large amounts of text from other online sources. Even if you cite these sources, this is not a good approach.
I'm am not sure of the rules regarding your 'release' from the downvotes your content will now be receiving, and think it would just be easier to start again.

That's an idea, but it doesn't help steemit to have bullies doing this to untrained disabled newbies who have done right by the system as far as it could be.
The data they find objectionable is not being spammed as it raises more characters in comments and replies than on blog posts. It is from the public, common knowledge, from 85 years ago. It was @cheetah who helped me discover it's original source. The www. sited by @cheetah turns out to be almost plagiarised as it has not the source information of the source of information and publisher that mine had with @cheetah's help. My source is from 1933 and a defunct publisher. Forty-nine years younger than that in www. The information I posted, I tagged culture, and funny, so also did I put Note Warnings where required, that it was over 100 years old and used at reader's responsibility. It entertained, informed and it's purpose was in memory of the veterans of WW1 which from comments here and on other means I was thanked and asked for more. I don't have more than odd bits and some domestic Pharmacopoeia and Homeopathy, which is still very useful to all bushies anywhere who might not have ready access to Dr's or flying Dr's. This information is not readily available in small posts anywhere in the world, but the robots consider it not important enough for posterity in steemit.com¿ This is a community, and I agree that the two robots mentioned should continue, but as robots they need closer overseeing and the overseer needs to be the interaction agent with humans. The inability to think and weigh thought should be balanced by an inability to post anything except a query, which when answered is a dialogue with and by a human. If people in the community need policing, how much more do bullies with robots.
Back to your first point, I am not sure that I can. I am not computer trained nor oriented, and without an IT helper could not have opened this site. I have been unable to open steemit.chat, when I've been on Discord there is no one there. Someone, I think @davemccoy said I should have four 52 character passes, but I have five. I don't have cpu or laptop and every character is same fingertip. I don't even know how to give you my money were I to leave. It would, I expect just get swallowed by my not using it. The help given to newbies might actually have been of help had it been written FOR newbies, assuming any of you can imagine someone who has not got computer skills at all. So I have no idea about the $6+ but I didn't come here for that any more than I came to be spat at by robot-drivers with no sense of humour. If steemians are so shallow that they don't care how the robot-drivers affect the site, then I don't think the community is worth what it pretends to be. So shallow, that my idea of a robot index hunter, beyond the tags, just got swallowed and only two commented, @anyx did not comment. This site is growing a universal library, but is filling it with trash and shallow posts. When public information not readily available elsewhere is trashed, the community is responsible. The community has need to see its future in responsibility to its further future. I can think of a number of add-on apps but not being the IT wizz my boy is, I can't write them without sitting down with a writer of DOS. My boy won't help, he doesn't think much of steemit's chances if it continues as is. He has other projects and goals and this supposedly was my gig. Ah well, I will continue to plug along, and if the robots want to hound me out, I will have left a pocket of sanity within your archives.
Keep on keeping on. 😇
Baraka Bashad.
