Django Girls Tutorial: Empowering Women Through Programming

in utopian-io •  7 years ago  (edited)

Through the years, women have made a significant progress with fighting for gender equality. They have managed to fight their way through all the gender biases especially when it comes to their workplace. Despite all their breakthroughs in various areas, we can't deny the fact that there are really certain areas where men still rule. And one of those is in the technology sector.

But one non-profit organization named Django Girls Tutorial, aims to slowly change this as they try to motivate women to learn programming. As their
patreon page say

We make the world better by bringing more amazing women into the world of technology and increasing the diversity in the Django community. We believe that technology is for people and everyone should be able to build it. We are making technology more approachable by creating simple tools and resources designed with empathy.

If you want to know more about this community, just visit their website.

As a woman, knowing about this community with such an ambitious goal inspired me to make a contribution. Since they want to empower women all over the world, there is a call for the project to be localized.

For this contribution, I have completed 39 translations, amounting to 558 words in Tagalog.
