In Steemit you can go directly to a user's settings page when you are not logged in.
There you will see the following editable text fields with a greyed out Update button.
Of course, since you are not logged in you cannot modify these settings but it does give the impression you can modify them.
Suggestions
Some other suggestions if this wants to be changed are...
- Make everything read-only text without an
Updatebutton if the user is not logged in and is not the same user in the URL. This is easy to do probably. - Follow a strategy like GitHub where the URL for settings is https://github.com/settings/profile and you must be logged in to view instead of having a username on the URL route. This might break certain other apps(Busy) that have direct links to settings but would probably be better in the long run.

- Open incognito window
- Go to a profile settings page (Like https://steemit.com/@behistunannalist/settings)
- See modifiable text fields and a grayed out
