INTRODUCTION.

I often use my phone most nights to work on steemit, and my siblings wont let me turn on the lights(to neutralize rays of light from my phone screen). This causes pains for my eyes.
In this review, i am introducing you to the app that saves my night; RED MOON💖

WHAT IS RED MOON?

This is the first out of all android applications that has reduced my phones backlight beyond limits. It is a free and open source mobile application. Redmoon filters the screen and make it peferct for use at night. It filters out blue lights and dims the screen below normal. It requires permission to draw over other apps, modify system settings, retrieve running apps, run at startup and turn on your location(not compulsory though). Sometimes early this year, a new version was launched and this version was made to support new and older devices.

HOW I GOT TO KNOW OF RED MOON

On my quest to find an application that can reduce and manage screen backlights, i found Red moon. I downloaded it, without hesitation i installed it, and i can boldly tell you that Red Moon is worth it.
(Red moon app is available to all on google play anf F-Droid.)

FEATURES OF RED MOON

  • Intro/User guide: most developers dont see a need for intro/guide for an app which isnt easy for most users. There are lots of apps you download and you just have to figure how to run them by yourself. Not everyone is smart enough and that's why some people delete apps without knowing how much features embodied by the app. Launching the Red Moon app, there is an intro/user guide that gives a brief description of what the app does and how to activate it. The are four pages of the intro/user guide. First is a welcome page, the second page says Red Moon would protect my eyes, The third page explains how the app works and the fourths tells you how to get started. I started using the app and i feared i had lost the intro/user guide forever, i got suprised to see it listed as the third option by clicking the three vertical arranged dots at the top right corner of the screen, this means you could access your intro/user guide at any point in time.

  • Schedule: With this feature, users are allowed to schedule the effect of the Red Moon. You can either schedule the effect from sunset to sunrise based on the location. Also users can schedule the effects manually by setting up preferred start time and stop time. You are required to to turn on your location when you click on the sunset to sunrise option, this is to enable Red Moon know when sunset and sunrise would occur at your current location. For me, I'd schedule manually. I set the start time to 10pm and my stop time 6am, because my siblings requests all lights be switched off at night.

  • Free/no ads: I didnt expect this app to come free. There are no signs of ads,no single one. Red Moon provides users with unique features and yet, it's free and doesnt have ads. That is so rare!🤗.

  • Filter: This feature allows users choose preferred profile. You can also add new profile or delete an old one. Clicking on the Default, dim only or reading profile would automatically activate a filter that is already created. Clicking on the custom allows users to create their filter in whatever way they want it. I created mine naming it as 'Eye Guard'. I created it in such a way that my phone had low brightness. Directly below the filter feature is an option that says 'Lower system brightness'. Ticking its box leads you to the default profile where you can also create your own profile.

  • Pause in excluded apps: If this feature is enabled, Red Moon automatically pauses when certain apps are opened. It will use only this data to determine if you are using an app which does not work when Red Moon is on. This is what the app tells users before they can use this feature. This feature best studied by me reads all the apps you use, to know if they are secured against overlays to protect themselves from interference. What Red Moon does is to automatically turn off its effect when such apps are opened as they wont respond to touches when Red Moon is on. Testing this feature, i turned on the "pause in excluded apps" feature and tried installing an application on my phone, immediately i clicked on install, the effect of the Red Moon app was automatically turned off.

COMPARING RED MOON WITH DIMLY

  • Sunset-sunrise feature works only on Red Moon.
  • Theme colour can be changed on Red Moon to a dark theme. Meanwhile, you cant do that on Dimly.
  • Red Moon is modernized than Blue light filter.
  • Pause in excluded app feature is on Red Moon only.
  • The Red Moon has unique features while Dimly has just one Feature which is Draw over apps.

HOW TO GET STARTED

  • Download and install latest version of - Red Moon from google play or F-Droid.
  • Safely install the App.
  • Launch the App
  • Read Intro/User guide.
  • Start using the app.

CONCLUSION

Red Moon is absolutely an Interesting app with unique features. This app has been a Messiah to me because ever since i downloaded and installed it, i can stay all night long on my phone without having to complain of eye problems.
Don't think twice before downloading it, Red Moon is worth it!😊

Thank you for the contribution.

This post is more extensive than the previous one I reviewed, and I appreciate that. However, there are areas where you could improve.

Apart from learning that you like the app, and it has been your ''messiah'', there isn't anything much here to learn. I advise you to make your future content more unique by sharing more of your thoughts and experiences.

The writing also had many issues. Aside from the grammar issues, there are many proofreading issues in the post. For instance, you wrote the pronoun 'I' in lowercase. The pronoun 'I' should always be capitalized. Grammarly app could have helped in that aspect. I suggest that you paste your future texts in Grammarly before publishing.

I hope to see some improvement in your future contributions.
