Support for self-hosted repositores (ditch github)

in utopian-io •  7 years ago

So I would like to contribute some code but it happens that I don't have a github account.
It seems silly to rely on a centralized service given the decentralized nature of this project.
Utopian should be able to fetch any http: or git: hosted repository. Heck you can even host a git repo on IPFS!
Authentication is not a problem as every commit can be GPG signed by the git client. (This is what gitguild relies on)
Do you think it is a good idea to mirror every repo on IPFS? Or at least support fetching from self-hosted repositories?
