will be more user friendly if the developer adds it to make the user more confident that his / her true contribution is stored in the draft

    It is more user friendly than your suggestion. For every character that is added, It is automatically saved in drafts. In your suggestion, user will have to be clicking on drafts, what if in the process the computer or phone switches off.
