Adding a nsfc feature/tag

One thing that I am glad to see on Steemit is the use of the nsfw (not safe for work) tag that allows content that are not appropriate for viewing in a public setting to be hidden by default. You may have seen it at some stage while browsing various topics:

I think that because the audience and user base on Steemit is still growing (and going through growing pains), another feature that is similar to the nsfw tag should be implemented to continue attracting the right type of users to the platform, and I think this should be the nsfc tag.

My reason for this is because I think there are lots of great content out there that are very good for children (in particular #steemiteducation and topics like #science, #art, etc.), and it would be great if people seeking inspirations, resources and ideas for home schooling and extra curricular activities can take advantage of some great content available here.

However, just as there are lots of appropriate material for children, there are also plenty of areas that no discerning parents in their right mind would want their children to be exposed to. I am not against censorship on Steemit, but rather appropriate measures to ensure that we don't end up just like... well, another social media website where anything goes.

I also noticed that some users are creating accounts on behalf of their children and probably monitor it closely, but there is no effective way for parents to control what content gets displayed on the feed (because it does get overwhelming some times), or what their children might access intentionally or unintentionally.

So based on some of the past posts on the nsfw tag like these:
https://steemit.com/steem-standards/@arhag/explicit-nsfw-standard
https://steemit.com/steemit/@warrensteem/steemit-nsfw-tag-request

I would like to see something similar on busy.org if not steemit.com:

I agree, I use the nsfw tag currently. But because I had to do some research to find out what tag to use (and that indeed a tag existed) I propose a check-box in the post form so there is no ambiguity and posters can not claim they didn't know of the option.
With your suggestion, that would mean two check-boxes, one for nsfw and one for nsfc.

Do you mean something like this where you go to write the post?

yes exactly!

Thank you for the contribution. It has been approved.

On a side note: thank you for this post. I also had a steemit suggestion, and your post made me realize I could post it on Utopian.io.

@edward.maesen - just make sure you read the tips before posting on Utopian.io. As you can see, these types of posts do reward you well if you can come up with good ideas!

Yes I found that out to my pleasant surprise. I posted my suggestion yesterday evening and it received a generous reward compared to my regular previous posts.
