Promoting MineColonies To Asian People | Part #1

I recently got into Utopian and I was really interested in contributing with them to open source projects. With the help of @techslut I was able to find a good project. I took some time to understand the project and I found out that MineColonies is a mode for Minecraft which can allow you to make colonies, add colonist and all that. It was basically adding elements of a game known as "Colony Survival" to Minecraft game. After studying it I quickly wanted to start my first campaign on this project.

Information

To run a good campaign you must have some sort of data for advertising like what type of audience will like the application. Many Asian People are into gaming and I thought this will be a good starting point to collect some data and do some promotion in the way. I named the campaign "MineColonies Ad Campaign #1" to make it simple. I set the ad campaign type to "Traffic" because in the whitelist there was written that their expectation includes driving more people to their homepage so this type will do the job.

The campaign had only 1 ad set and inside that ad set was only 1 ad to keep things simple. I spent the total of RS 500, RS stands for rupeed and in this case I am talking about Pakistani Rupees. 1$ dollar is equal to 121 Pakistani Rupees so 500 Pakistani Rupees is around 4.1$ Dollars. The ad only ran for 24 hours.

Targeted audience was Asians because they love gaming. I targeted age group of 18 - 36 because older people than that are not generally into gaming. I narrowed down the audience by adding only people who are connected to Minecraft (The game of which this is mod of) or video games in general.

The ad placement was automatic because I think Facebook knows better than us on where to place ads. The ad was optimized for getting most link clicks. Here is the screenshot of the ad and how it was shown to others. There was some difficulty finding images for it but I used the image that was used in their discord server. In the future campaign, I will do something more interesting.

Results

Here are the results of the campaign.

My ad reached over 26 thousand people and with CTR of above 1%, 276 people clicked on the link. Cost per click was 0.015 cent or 1.81 PKR. The impressions were over 27 thousand. Overall I would say that this campaign turned out to be all right.

Data

Some information that I got from running this ad was that age group of 18 - 24 were most interested in this ad and this ad was more effective on men than on women. 70% of the ads were clicked by men. That's because boys of younger age are more into gaming.
