This article is another contribution of mine into an open source website. As for this contribution, I will be giving a suggestion for the continuous development of Steemit.

Steemit is one of the well-known and most popular blogging website nowadays. Many people from different countries are hooked and taking part on the said platform. Many people also has been discovered by their talents, skills, knowledge, tutorials, etc. and somehow make friends, tag along or building harmonious relationship with other through Steemit since it is a social media platform where everyone gets paid for creating and curating content. It leverages a robust digital points system (Steem) for digital rewards.

PROBLEM

As a Steemit blogger, having lots of upvotes and comments on your posts feels great and overwhelming. Not to mention that the curators who upvoted your posts had given a high upvote value for your post. Furthermore, if they leave comments which are inspirational, encouraging and very positive. It will buoy up your interest to make some other post and to make good quality content posts.

But there is an existing problem which I think needs an immediate response. The problem which I am referring to is when “ someone just leave a negative comment on your posts ”. It’s not just a typical negative comment but is something which could hurt other people’s feeling when it will be read. Aside from that, there are also comments which does not sound good to read and could also possibly ruin the dignity/reputation of the author when anyone could read it. Another thing is there are comments on a post which the author of the post doesn’t want to see its appearance in the comment portion.

SUGGESTION (Proposed Solution)

So now, as the title itself states, my suggestion would be the addition of Notification Panel Option for Allowing or Disallowing of Comments to be posted on Comments' Section of Steemit Posts. Yes it’s true that there is this “ Flag Post/Comment Option on Steemit Posts ” and it is somehow useful and advantageous however, as what I have observed, it is not enough to stop those kind of comments from appearance on any Steemit post. There are instances that I have observed that an author of a specific post really needs to be given an opportunity to authorize or unauthorized comments on his posts. So I have decided to make this suggestion.

BENEFITS

The purpose of this suggestion is not only to totally stop anyone from posting such comments but also to minimize the flooding of comments which are quite annoying and unnecessary. This is also to give the author his very own opportunity and decision if he will allow such comments on his post. Aside from that it is one of the ways which I think would help Steemit and the Steemians to build a better, harmonious, respectful, responsible and understanding community from which everyone has the given the opportunity to express themselves, share their knowledge/experiences without further hesitation and interruption from other people. Such that, they would be able to make more good Squality content posts. Aside from that, I am positive that these suggestion would be a big help in the future of this platform.

To summarize, this suggestion would:

1. Give opportunity to the author to allow or disallow an appearance of a specific comment.
2. Minimize bullying, posting of unnecessary comments (e.g. Posts has been upvoted and resteemed…..; I followed and upvoted you so please follow me too and upvote my posts…., etc.) and throwing of bashes/negative comments on the posts.
3. Encourages authors to make posts which expresses themselves, sharing their knowledge/experiences without further hesitation and interruption from other people.
4. The author could delete comments before it appears on the comment section of his post.
5. Another development on Steemit and milestone to be achieved by the Steemit management.
