Bible App - Put Source Code for NT with Greek Strong Numbers To Match with Original

Contribution to the 'And Bible" Open Source Project App for Android

"And Bible" is an Android app for Bible teachers and students to use to study the Bible on Androids and tablets. This app was created 2 years ago and are now inviting people to make suggestions features that can be added to make the app more effective for users.

There are now more than 100+ versions in different languages that people can use all over the world to read the Bible. Since I am chinese, I want to suggest a feature to the project owner to add onto the chinese version, particularly the CUV version that is commonly used by a big population of chinese people all over the world.

I want to zoom into the New Testament section where the original source language is written in Greek.

Most of the population of people read translated versions that are in their own language because they don't speak Greek. But translations have a lot of errors. This is why we must always go back to the source language to understand the meaning of the words when we do interpretation.

My Proposal:

The app has a section for Chinese readers. I want to suggest that for the CUV (the Union version) that Strong Numbers in reference to the Greek words be added to the New Testament of the CUV Bible.

Since the New Testament is written in Greek, it is important for serious Bible teachers and students to go back to the original Greek words where the New Testament was written in. You can say this is the Source Language.

We don't speak Greek, but 'Strong' in the last century had compiled a number system by which we can click on the 'strong number' that is related to the original word to find out the 'original meaning' of this Greek word.

So if this technical aspect of the Strong numbers can be added, this can truly enhance the app usage.

The following screenshot shows how the CUV version is written on the app in chinese.

• I want to propose all these Greek Strong numbers to be listed in the actual Chinese translation of the Bible for sake of accuracy.

• As you can see from the above screen shots, each translated word has the Greek Strong Number pointing back to the Original Greek Source Word.

Benefits

• While it is good for Bibles to be translated into different languages so that everyone can read the Bible, I find that people nowadays read all kind of wrong interpretation into the Bible because they heavily depend on the translations.

• Translations are not always accurate. It is alright to use it for reading but not for serious studies.

• For Pastors and Bible leaders in the church, they must not depend on translations to read the Bible because they will mislead people the accuracy of the truths in the Bible.

• Having the Strong numbers with the Greek Source Code, one can always go back to the Original meaning of the Greek Word so that it will prevent people from making wrong conclusion.

Conclusion

Lastly I want to encourage leaders who give lectures on Bibles or sermons, or even Sunday School teachers should make use of these Strong Numbers to interpret the Bible correctly for children. Children learn quickly and should learn things right at the beginning. With the Strong numbers and source code, all bible teachers can look up these words in the Strong Number Dictionary and will find how that word is used in its 'culture' and original context. We cannot use chinese culture to read into the Bible that was written in the Roman-Greek culture at the time of 1st Century A.D. Therefore, one must do more studies and go back to the original source language to find the definition of these words.
