Hour of Code, Learn Game Development: Code.org Localization #50

in utopian-io •  7 years ago  (edited)

Programming is often seen as a nerdy activity. Most people think that it is too technical for them, and that it is too technical for them, and that it is extremely complex or too complicated for them. However, the truth is, coding has become a handy skill. It is a skill that makes it easier for people to navigate in this digital era. And if you think about all the benefits of learning programming and awesome things we can do with it, I am hope that it will move you to learn the skill.

Code.org® envisions that every student in every school around the world should have the opportunity to learn programming. They have been very active with this campaign and is supported by philanthropic donations from corporations, foundations, and generous individuals. Just to name a few: Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Bill Gates, etc.

Giant companies and people behind the technologies that we are using today have seen the great value of this project. And with this in mind, I believe that in my own little ways, I will also be able to contribute to this project. The localization of this project will surely benefit a lot of people around the world. Let's make this available in all languages, and thus help people learn to program.

I think its really cool that there are more and more websites popping up like code.org to help kids learn a useful skill for the future. I want to start introducing programing to my older kids. The fact that it can be incorporated into Minecraft makes it even more appealing to them. I am a firm believer that computer code should be taught as a second language in schools. I think this would be time better spent, than learning many foreign languages. I can count on one hand how many times I have used the 3 years of French I learned in Highschool. If I would have been introduced to 3 years of Computer language, think of how much more useful that would have been to me in the "Real World". Great Post. Thanks!

That's very true. I had just stumbled upon code.org a few months ago and was amazed by how they handled the tutorials. They made easy for children, even pre-readers to learn the basics of programming. And the games that they have used such Minecraft, Frozen, Angry Birds and many more has surely enticed children to learn programming and create their own games. Hope that a lot of people will take advantage of it.
