How to adjust playback speed in vlc

Hello everyone!

I am back with another tutorial on how to use the vlc media player. As you already know, VLC media player is undoubtedly the most amazing media player in the whole. It is packed with tons of amazing features like the ability to play just any video or audio file you throw at it, be able to record your screen and webcam, watch 3D movies, stream online videos, download and play subtitles and you can even play games with it if you are bored. VLC media player has an answer for your every needs and the best of all is that its FREE.

Today, I will be guiding you guys on how to adjust the playback speed of your video. This can be pretty useful if you want to watch your video carefully, like watching a time lapse video that is very hard to follow, watching an educational video or a tutorial video on how to do something and also you can speed it up if the video is slow for you. This feature can save you your viewing experience and let you enjoy your videos clips or movies to the fullest. So, let us get started!

First thing to do is open your vlc media player, if you still haven't installed it in your computer I would greatly advise you to download and install it right now. You can go ahead and click this link : https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html , this will take you to their official homepage where you can download their software legally and without any virus.

Just click on the Download button or you can click on the drag down button beside the Download and choose your corresponding Operating System, it is available on Windows, Mac, Linux and Android. After clicking it, the download will commence immediately.

After you have downloaded the software, kindly install it to your pc and open it afterwards.

Now, that you have opened your vlc media player. Load up your video clip or movie that you want to adjust the playback speed. You can do this by clicking the Media > Open File or just Ctrl + O.

After that, it will open up your file manager and there you can search for your video. Just select the video that you want to watch then hit the Open button.

After your movie has loaded up in vlc you can go ahead and click Playback > Speed > and then you can choose if you want it to go faster or slower or at normal speed.

By clicking it, it will go faster or slower depending on your choosing. If going there is a hassle for you, you can just press "+" in your keyboard to speed up the video by 0.1x and "-" to slow it down by 0.1x in each press.

Now, you can control the speed of your video clip or movie. Enjoy it to the fullest!

Bonus tip:

You can go ahead and skip the video by 10 seconds either forward or backward. Just click on Playback > Jump Forward if you want to skip 10 seconds forward or Jump Backward if you want to skip 10 seconds backward.

Or you could just type in the specific time of the video that you want to jump into. Just click on the Jump to Specific Time or Ctrl + T, this will open up a new mini window asking you for the specific time that you want to go. It's format is hours:minutes:seconds

After you have typed in the time hit the Go button and it will jump you to it immediately.
