I made a post today regarding a large-scale idea to advance Steem’s development, and it was recommended to share with the witnesses to help get this in front of the audience who’d be in the position to do something with/about it:

The $1 Billion Steem Development Fund: How Steemit Inc.'s Stake Could Be Best Allocated To Grow A Thriving Network Of Applications And Users...

would be cool if you could have a read, and IF you feel it’d be a great idea that’d serve the community, forward to anyone in particular you know who might be in a position of influence to advance the discussion.

this definitely isn't a small idea, and not sure on how likely it could be to get implemented. however, there are surely tons of projects on Utopian.io that could benefit if it were to be acted upon - so it'd awesome to have your support in sharing it with whoever might be most appropriate, should you have the connections to forward it their way.

Air-clinic is the place to be. We've radio talk shows every evening on subjects ranging from cryptocurrencies to heath and daily living. There are trainings for newbies twice a week, contests with giveaway prizes for every participant, FREE professional medical consultations and discussions by authentic facilitators. Through the blockchain, we've been able to bring healthcare to various doors, and we'd like that to continue.

WHY I SUPPORT AIR-CLINIC FOR THIS CHARITY

Air-clinic as a community has offered immense support to minnows. The community offers free health care consultation and daily health discussions. It is important to add that the community is consistent at what it does.

Members are also allowed to partake in health-related contests, which educates them in the process and give them a chance to win SBDs.

There are also certain individuals who are saddled with the responsibility of helping new members, a job they do without pay.

In all, I am convinced that the donation will be used efficiently.

Thank you @utopian-io and your whole team for this initiative. The reasons why I support AIR-CLINIC for this charity are numerous but I will say a few. AIR-CLINIC has been consistent right from the day it started with all the programs of giving free medical consultation, educating people with various health talks topics , giving people the opportunity to partake in health based contest which in turn increases their knowledge about the subject matter and receiving rewards in form of SBD. with their daily talk on health and also solve health problem via live chat (fm)
with also their daily fm chat on various topic on health
i guess the charity should be given to them because their medical consultations for members that are ill is free and also got alot of doctors and nurses out there working for free with a very fast service.

Air-clinic is indeed very awesome. I have learnt a lot about health in terms of both physical and mental fitness through the daily discussions. Chatting with people has helped me make a lot of friends there. Then after that the talk shows are amazing. WHY AIR-CLINIC DESERVES THIS

Steemit has always been a platform whixh solves community problems. One of the issues that I can really think of is healthcare. Universal primary healthcare has never been achieved in the world despite all the efforts of united nations to do so. Although still in incubation, this dscord group and community has done really well in making the steemit platform a place for health care advocacies. Its goal has always been a nonprofit group dedicated to providing ease of access of healthcare in steemit.

Health carehas always been underrated and undervalued but so vital in a myriad of ways. This is the reason why i consider Air-Clinic as one of the best recipiets of this donation sinply bevause we want to achieve that goal. Can someone please explain the benefits of @air-clinic to me?

So, after I saw a lot of comments suggesting @air-clinic as the "charity" which should get the rewards, I took a closer look and I have a few question for @nairadaddy:

What are the benefits of this and what are you actually planning to do with the money? How are you planning to use it to help people?

All of the published articles I scrolled through, are easily available on the internet. A quick search on google will get you more credible results than what you guys are publishing. How is stuff like "Doctors are Sweet, Nurses are the Opposite?!" even considered to be health advice?
This project is picking up on "Telemedicine" which might be legal in the US, still there are a lot of countries where this is banned and considered illegal. What are your thoughts on this?
This is already happening on pages like www.justdoc.com or other succesful companys, why do you see the need to copy this business model on Steemit and what are the benefits from creating a similar platform on the STEEM Blockchain?

(I did not check you guys out on Discord yet, only read through the posts on @air-clinic)

Thank you for the array of questions. What we do is open enough for everyone to see. You should look before falling a victim to hasty generalizations. Read posts on our blog to find out. There's alot going on in the Discord Community which you should probably join if you want to get the full picture.

Let me ask you a few questions too:

Should D-Tube never have been created because Youtube already does what they do?
Should D-Sound never exist because SoundCloud already does what they do?
Should Zappl never exist because Twitter already does what they do?
Should Steepshots & Appics never exist because Instagram already does what they do?

Getting to the world of living is surely from our parents, my entry into steemit would not have been actualised, if not for @euronation whatsapp webinar which I was lucky to stumble upon one fateful day. This has been a community that looks forward to the development of its members, and one aspect of this development is the engagement of its members in the contribution to open source through #utopian-io.

If there is anyone who deserve this nomination, its @steemnaira. They have created several training for newbies via whatsapp and have several project to help minnows and even newbie and as we all know, newbie are the ones who will grow to become whales of tomorrow. The attention we give them now determines if they stays or leave the system/platform.

@steemnaira aim is to keep them glue to the platform while encouraging them with daily upvote with Daily Curation Project.

Another beautiful project is Curation Sunday where great number of steemians present there post to each other to get upvotes, resteem and incentives like Bitshare.

Hy utopian, i nominate @steemnaira. The reason for my nomination is as a result of their selfless service towards steemians, most especially the newbabies, by helping them to know more about steemit.
I can remember when i was still a new babies, and i didn't know how to find my way around steemit, i was confused and tired. I later met a friend of mine @aderonkemi, she then introduced me to @steemnaira, and i was welcomed by them all. I was shown how to go about my introductory post and all.

Apart from steemnaira assstiting minnow and new babies, i think they have been helpful with the #curationsunday they are doing, where a minimum of 10bitshares are being given freely to participants. Left for me, i believe @steemnaira deserves the donation. Thanks and God bless.

I joined this platform just few weeks ago, I would be completing my first month here by next week, I would say with gratitude that Steemnaira community has made me feel at home here with a great gift of "a family", more so other numerous newbies can testify to this.

There is selflessness and dedication to make steemit grow amongst these people. Most steemians doing well today, giving back to the society evolved from steemnaira.

It is the most trustworthy Nigerian charity organisation that I know that is not dubious and is run by credible individuals and I can vouch for them.

They carry out charitable activities like paying for hospital bills for the sick, paying for surgery operations, education etc.

Even as Nigeria experiences the Boko Haram crises they still donate to the internally displaced people too.

Although there are other charity organisations, like I said, I don't really trust them.

This is a very nice one. And I really do appreciate that our idea on this one is what is going to matter here... I know there are many projects on ground but their is am ongoing one for singers clear the openmic contest which has been ongoing now that this is the 68th week.. It really has been a blessing and a platform for musicians all over the world to showcase their talent.. Which @luzcypher and @pfunk re organizing with great judges.. This contest doesn't really make as much compared to the mouth watering prizes they give to the weekly 5 winners ranging for 120SBD to 40SBD with a total of 300SBD weekly.. Wow... Thats a whole lot and I noticed most of these singers have passion for music haven't really been recongnized since they started blogging but the prizes are going around each week so even if they dont get as much upvotes on their normal post. The openmic contest as made it possible for them to earn some little buck at least for the first time... The upvoting power of most of the contestants doesn't really count and I would love for it not to stop running.. For me right now thats the only community that has been keeping me busy cause its what I love doing singing.. So I think the music community should get this Donation it will really encourage more artists and make steemit more fun.. Thats my idea hope its been taken into recongnition

if i would choose i would go for my own project that i am building up to help the steemit community and also to increase the value of steem/sbd through payment of workers who performed minor jobs. but i won't cause there was a community that helped me so much on my steemit career and not only me thousands of Nigerians who joined with out having the ideas of what steemit is all about.
they put us all through, and also they encourage us to always find something worthwhile to add to the steemit platform

Great cause. It has been amazing to watch the rise of @utopian-io over the past several months. Going to be a big year here on the platform.

As for deserving charities, there are many many many out there, all with a different goal or target in mind, But since this platform is a global community I would love to see something that benefits all of us here on the platform. Perhaps even dividing that 1000 steem into 2 equal donations and choosing a NPO in 2 different countries each time. The huge charities receive billions each year, the more localized groups, I feel would be better served with these donations

Amazing initiative, I'm feeling grateful that you are engaging in philanthropy in addition to pushing innovation through Steem and Utopian.

The cause I would like to nominate is @thevenusproject. This is a project that intends to create a moneyless society where the best of science and technology is used to create a very high standard of living for all the world's people, while at the same time protecting the environment. Well deserving of this award is @euronation. As a newbie I was practically floating on steemit without understanding what it was all about until I stumbled upon @euronation, a platform that gives free webinar and does massive recruitment for newbies making them see the need to make their own money doing what they love thereby having another source of income. How better to feed a hungry person than teaching how to fish. Utopian-io is known by me via @euronation. They are doing a great job and shouldn't be rewarded.

I would think @africaunchained is an obvious choice -- not necessarily the obvious choice but definitely an. Why? Consider the following:

Based on that post and many other recent #steemstats posts, it is clear that Africa (and in particular Nigeria) is rolling into Steemit in a big way, a trend that will only accelerate in 2018. Opportunity is like gravity and water always knows the way.

@africanunchained for its part, under the leadership of @destinysaid and his team, has been leading that charge, giving it direction, curating and teaching and mentoring to keep the deluge of newbies from devolving into spam and disgrace. Instead we're getting better and better every day, adding value to the platform by adding members who in turn bring their respective skills in music and art and science and writing to an international audience. If you were to even look at the @utopian-io or @steemstem stats, you would find that an increasingly large number of approved posts under those curation rubrics are from @africaunchained members.

This is not a coincidence.

We already in this. The power of a charity donation like this to further boost the activities of the @africaunchained initative and take them to the next level cannot be overstated. This is an opportunity to be an even greater part of that.

Thanks for the correction. A lot of Nigerians use the eSteem app due to laptops being more expensive than phones. It would be interesting to dig deeper into the stats for Nigerians specifically and see how that all shakes out.

Hallo utopian, i nominate @africanuchained. If you critically meditate on that name african unchained, it tella you that africa and africans are still under chain.
Africans are not under the physical chain any longer but under the chain of poor education, bad water, hunger, poverty, war, political impuinity, suppression, mental depression etc . as nelson mandela said that education is the weapon of freedom.

@africanunchained have took it upon themselves to empower the african children through education. They are not going to relent untill they make sure that africans are unchained. Please empower @africanunchained so that africans will be unchain

The admin have been supportive and ever-ready to answer questions no matter how many times they’re asked. It is the @euronation's doing and it is marvellous in our sight. The best community so far is @euronation. They have the greastest stragedies to recruite new members and stand by them till they achieve their dreams and financial freedom. Understandable leaders and simplicity directions are their degrees.
I could remember when i wanted to join @steemauto, as a newbie back then,i have no sbd at all,but @euronation sent me sbd to get registered there. That means ,if they won this donation,all members will have a testimony to share and more people shall join us because we shall use that donation to promote steemit. First of all, i will say a big thank you for @utopian-io for this initiative for coming and ready to pledge their support for the masses, may more reward be made to their account.

When it comes to dedication and commitment for minnows, @steemnaira has been doing their best in that aspect but there is no positive fund to make the dream to come to pass properly but with that odd in place, they have never relented so am using this medium to nominate them so that they can activate the goal of helping minnows which they have set down.

I will be greatful, in fact the whole crew will be happy if the plea is consider. Thanks

What a great initiative! Too sad I saw your article very late. I would have loved to bring my charity project @dreamsoftheocean into your focus.

Dreams of the Ocean is a project that supports kids in need through watersports activities. It follows the belief that physical activity close to the Sea has the power to strengthen the kids' overall wellbeing. Our activities are meant to broaden their horizons, help them to improve their mental and physical conditions, show them how important team spirit is and make them aware of the fact that the world is wating to be conquered.

Besides the official Steemit account where I keep the community posted about our doings, you may want to watch the following video. It was part of my speech at Steemfest² and shows the results from our very first charity event:

We've done three of these surf events at the end of last year. In 2018 the focus will be on: swim trainings. That'll be surely something a lot of kids will benefit from their whole lives. Thanks to some decent donations to @dreamsoftheocean we'll be able to organize a first training in March. It'd be awesome to plan another one with the help of @utopian-io / @elear! :-)
