This post covers the process and the mechanism of the making of HapRamp's official video. I will explain all the technicalities involved with each step from the ideation to production. The use of various software for editing, sound recording, sound mixing, adding effects and the pool of resources. I am going to Include a good amount of images in this blog to convey things in a more visual manner and give an abstract idea of the process.
Let's start with, what's the need of this video?
With the complexities involved in the functioning and reward mechanisms of a Blockchain like Steem, it is difficult for people to understand many core concepts like where does the money come from? How does the data we create become so valuable? Do we really need a new social media? How does it work? what are the possibilities involved? why should I care?
This video is not just intended for hapramp. it attempts to explain the Steem Blockchain and its need, importance and functioning to people in a visual and easy to understand manner.
This has been a month-long project where we went through the following stages of an explainer video creation:
1. Ideation and Story Building
This is the first step that comes with any version of filmmaking, whether it's a small advertisement, an explainer video or a large scale production. This is the heart of each video that is ever made.
For Hapramp's explainer video we had an added challenge to explain the core technicalities while maintaining the aesthetics of the video for wide outreach. We went through three iterations of the Story-building stage to come up with a compelling plot.
Through Ideation, we finalized the following main sections of the video:
- Explaining the Existing Social Media Space
- Why Hapramp?
- Diving Deep: Earnings and how to utilize it.
- Explaining Features: Introducing Competition Pool & Hapramp Store
- Where does the money come from: Crypto Economics
- Possibilities and future

2. Script Writing: A detailed explanation of different phases of the video
This is a stage in video making where you need most number of revisions and reviews to be accurate. You should have a goal to deliver the required message to the viewer in the most crisp and simple way. Script writing is done on the ideation points generated in the previous stage of the process.
I have written about each fragment of the script and illustrated corresponding parts of the actual video, have also added pictures of the original script document.
Fragment 1: Explaining the Existing Social Media Space
'From the Script'
Talking about creating a new Social Media platform in the year 2018 sounds very cliche, therefore it is very important to explain the existing social media space and the major problems associated with it.
This is an extremely difficult point to make as most of the issues with the existing social media platforms exist in the background and a large majority of users never realize that. It is only when we dig deeper we start to start to realize the core issues.
We have taken an approach to make this point by explaining the value of our time we Invest and the data we create on these platforms. All this useful content is created by people like us, who choose to share their passion and expertise with the world.
While we are Investing our valuable time on social media platforms, by either liking, sharing or creating content, we are actually generating billions in revenue for these platforms. a part of which, we rightly deserve. Our time investment and value creation should generate monetary benefits for us but that is not happening.
200 years back uranium was just a rock because no one realized it's value, but when nuclear physics and Radioactivity developed, people realized and it became one of the most important and valuable elements. Similarly, the value of data was not realized a decade back and it was free for use. Contrary to that now the importance of data is known and it is the most natural thing that it will be monetized.
This is where a platform like Hapramp becomes necessary, based on the Steem blockchain technology, it will enable people with creative interests to earn by sharing their work on the platform.
Fragment 2: Why Hapramp?
'From the Script'
To position a new kind of Social Media it is very important to show why exactly it is the way into the furure. The evolution of the Web from Web 1.0 to 2.0 has changed the way Interaction took place on the Internet. Web 3.0 will be about Data 'Its Security, Privacy, Ownership, and Monetization'.
During Web 1.0 people could only host static web pages, and others could just visit them. It was a one-way communication. Then around a decade back social media platforms started to emerge and the era of web 2.0 started. It gave everyone the power to interact on the web and share anything they loved with anyone across the world.
At present, we are entering the era of web 3.0. Now, data is the new currency, and time is the new investment. The creators are the owner of their data, which is an enormously valuable asset.
Web 3.0 is the Internet of Value where it makes all sense that contributors get back a proportional amount of monetary value they are adding. HapRamp is one of the first such platforms, built exclusively for people with creative interests, to enable them to earn money directly from what they love.
This is one of the most important segments of the video, it has been shot on camera and explained by the team members.
Fragment 3: Diving Deep: Earnings and how to utilize it.
'From the Script'
This segment focuses on what exactly you can do on the platform. It explains the features and shows how you can utilize your earnings on the platform.
You can keep creating all the amazing content that you want, with one simple difference, post it on hapramp and earn money when others like and rate your work.
Now after you earn on Hapramp the next important question is, how can you use this money?
You will be able to send it directly to your bank account and use it the way you want.
You will have an option to transfer money instantly to any other user on the platform, in a highly secure manner, with absolutely no fees involved.
Fragment 4: Explaining Features: Introducing Competition Pool & Hapramp Store
'From the Script'
This segment Introduces two important features that we will be releasing in the future.
HapRamp introduces a unique concept of live competition pools where users will be able to participate in highly engaging competitions in different categories with a small participation fee and earn great Steem rewards. We are working on a system where a majority of the users will be able to earn in the competition pools. Your chances to earn will depend on how much people love your entry.
People can also use their earnings on the HapRamp store which will have curated products from select users and brand. There will be a unique opportunity for professional users to set up their own store and earn.
Fragment 5: Where does the money come from- Crypto Economics
'From the Script'
Where does the money come from? It is one of the most difficult concepts for people to understand about the Steem Blockchain. The idea is to explain this in the simplest way possible.
The earning is based on Crypto Economics. It is a new concept and it may be difficult to understand at this stage but it will become more clear and intuitive with time. You will understand the entire system in great detail when you dive in deeper as it grows.
On HapRamp people earn steem tokens. These token have a real value just like bitcoin. The value of Steem, Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency is based on crypto economics where the source of trust is democratized and decentralized.
The tokens are scarce and useful. This makes them an extremely valuable asset. Steem is among the top 20 cryptocurrencies in the world. Currently, more than 48,000 steem tokens are generated each day which forms a reward pool from where these tokens are distributed to creators like you. It is distributed in proportion to the value users create for the community. In less than a year after release contributors across the world earned more than 22 Million Dollars from the Steem reward pool and this is just the beginning
Fragment 6: Possibilities and future
'From the Script'
This segment leaves a note on the future and possibilities of Hapramp, it compels viewers to see things from a new perspective.
Things are changing way faster than anyone of us could imagine. It's time when we re-imagine internet and look towards a more advanced future. Hapramp is a next-generation social media built on the technology of the future. A technology which fundamentally caters to data security and content ownership. It will revolutionize the way money flow takes place on the Internet, making it absolutely democratic where you will be the most valued and important entity

5. Post Production: Sequencing and Video Editing
It is said that movies are made on the table. When you are engrossed in this process, it rightly seems so. Editing and sequencing require a lot of patience and it is the most time-consuming stage in Video Making Process. You might end up spending hours on a small sequence to get it right.
We used the following software and services in this process:
Adobe Premiere Pro CC
Adobe After Effects CC
Adobe Photoshop CC
Biteable [Premium]
Shutterstock[Premium]
System: Microsoft Surface Pro
Intel Core i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40 GHz
64 bit Operating System, x-64 based Processor
Thank you for your patience in reading such a long post.
