ReactOS is a free and open-sourced operating system based on the Windows NT architecture, it provides support for the applications that already exists, and an alternative to the current operating systems that dominates the market.

It is true that ReactOS current usage is mostly designed for programmers to expand and improve on. however, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to use it, and in its final state will be a consumer friendly Operating System. If you've used Windows before, you'll find yourself in a familiar environment with ReactOS.

This is my seventh contribution to the ReactOS project.

Since I have joined the French team back in September, my expertise has evolved a lot and my ability to learn and acquire new skills was multiplied because when you are working under a system similar to utopian's. Thus, for every mistake made, a penalty is established;

My know-how in multiple fields was originated from the nature of my occupation because as an engineer I'm used to adapting to different kinds of tasks and people always expect the best from me.
The reason why I mentioned this subject is that for the first time, since the introduction of our team, one of our posts got stuff-picked by utopian during this week's top contributions and this had motivated me a lot to put more work into my next contributions as to keep my work in a professional level.

During my last contributions, I had adopted a new style when it comes to the section 'In this session', and I find it quite instructive because a large article is not always mandatory for a good post, for me if I included 2 or 3 technical words with their exact meanings and I had made an effort to explain them using my style, I guess that would be more than enough.

For today's selection, I have chosen the following technical terms:

ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)

The Internet Control Message Protocol is a supporting protocol in the Internet protocol suite. It is used by network devices, including routers, to send error messages and operational information indicating, for example, that a requested service is not available or that a host or router could not be reached

PPTP(Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol)

PPTP stands for Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol. PPTP, operating on TCP port 1723, is one of the oldest VPN protocols still in use, having been around since Windows 95 and standard on all versions of Windows since. PPTP was developed by a Microsoft initiative to encapsulate another protocol called PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol).

Out of all the VPN protocols, PPTP is one of the most common, easiest to set up, and computationally fastest. For that reason, PPTP is useful for applications in which speed is paramount, like audio or video streaming, and on older, slower devices with more limited processors.

SLIP (Serial Line Internet Protocol)

It is an encapsulation of the Internet Protocol designed to work over serial ports and router connections. On personal computers, SLIP has been largely replaced by the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), which is better engineered, has more features and does not require its IP address configuration to be set before it is established. On microcontrollers, however, SLIP is still the preferred way of encapsulating IP packets due to its very small overhead.
