As a medical student and someone who wrote a piece on the benefits of vaccination just yesterday, I can assure you incidents like these are not common ground! It is terrible and unfortunate that incidents like this have occurred in the past, except it is hard to take an isolated case and suggest that this is an impending threat in countries were regulation of vaccination is more stringently controlled. Vaccination is the reason why Small Pox was eradicated in 1977 and is why so many deadly diseases no longer compromise the quality of life of millions of people. Vaccines use attenuated and less virulent strands of viruses OR dead bacterium to train the body's immune system to fight the diseases without the potential to cause the disease. In relation to the link between autism and vaccination, this is simply untrue and i encourage you and anyone else to read the thousands of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles from independent investigation teams which condemn the claims; i find it hard to comprehend that for some reason some people believe in a single article which has been disproved on more than one occasion. I implore anyone to read scientific journals, not news articles, and source out your own information instead of taking everything at face value - not all is what it seems.
