Flashback Memories - Vagrant Story (Playstation)

in vagrant •  6 years ago

This very fantastic game is one of the very last Squaresoft games on the Playstation before they move on to the Playstation 2.

Release on February of the year 2000, three months before the PS2 came out. As you can see how advance their developers has manage to squeeze out every single drop of performance left on the PS1 and the result shows.

The animations, the eye blinking and mouth moving. Really is just years of working on the platform to achieve such results. Comparing to the launch games on the release of the Playstation and is like night and day.

That intro scene FMV is probably ingrained into my brain because when i watched it again while making this video, my brain sort of know that intro music and imagery even after so many years forgetting it.

I don't really recall how the story goes in this game but from the looks of it, seems kind of above average? Battle system is awesome with the running around like Parasite Eve, you can even aim certain parts of the enemy to disable them like reduced movement for hitting the leg part.

There is some puzzle elements with the moving of the crates and such. You can rotate the camera using L1/R1 buttons to look around the map, you can even look around in first person using the right analog stick to get the lay of the land.

Anyway hope you all have a flashback of your own as well. Enjoy the video.
