And who are you planning to spend your valentines day with?šš
I'm back to my affair with watercolors these days šØš it's been one too many dates with my Cintiq tablet alone)....... sadly i haven't got a scanner besides me at the moment, so these pictures are the best i got for now.
Now here below I'd love to show you some of the stepping stones of how this illustration was painted:
Let's begin!
Initially I just wanted to make an illustration of Dazel, and the more I painted, the more the idea expanded and eventually it somehow ended up being a good visual representation of what to expect on the 14th of February :D
Why this hair: A few weeks ago I had a dream that I decided to become a new me and I started by doing this exact haircut, in my dream it looked pretty cool. It still looks rather awesome I think on the picture... I'm not so sure It'd look as cool on me though in real life..
The illustration is painted with watercolors, with the addition of gold and silver ink from Winsor & Newton, so depending on the angle at which you look at the picture, it shines and sparkles.. like you can see here on this lucky photo:
I completed the picture in three evenings. Having been painting digitally a lot lately, it was suddenly a bit strange not being able to undo or to remove a layer...this is one reason why traditional art is actually more advanced - you have to do it perfectly in one go;)
Thanks a lot to my friend Dazel for letting me show him off here š
That's all for now:) Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my post!
