Fact of the matter is that there is a massive bias towards researching varicocelectomy and embolization. From my research, there is a 200X higher focus on high-risk, low-efficacy, and high-cost procedures of varicocele surgery and embolization than on identifying the root cause of varicocele, preventative care, and any active treatment or lifestyle change that would help.
So, why do some doctors recommend varicocele surgery? Because the science tells them to. And, the science is dictated by $$$. Therefore doctors recommend surgery mainly because of financial incentives, be it direct or indirect.
Moreover, they are simply not educated in any alternative. Why? Because it hasn’t been researched. All research funds are allocated to surgery and embolization.
So, what about safe home treatments? What about lifestyle change? What about physical therapy and exercise? What about nutrition and diet? What about stretching and yoga? Nope, no science no those, therefore they cannot recommend them.
