How to make a perfect tea/coffee with vegan milk?

in vegan •  7 years ago  (edited)

After going vegan most of the vegan keep searching vegan food alternatives of their habitual non-vegan foods. This problem is very common with vegan in India as milk has become an integral part of so called vegetarian people and they can not imagine delicious food without milk and milk products.
In India tea/coffee with milk is very popular instead of black tea/coffee, and anyone who turn vegan miss that taste due to habit/addiction of milk in their tea.
There are so many plant based milk can be made but all have their shortcomings e.g. Soy milk is very near to animal milk in texture and consistency but flavor of soy milk is not easily acceptable to everyone. Coconut milk is easy to prepare and delicious but not much stable as compare to animal milk and fat become separate on keeping in the fridge. Almond milk is delicious but again consistency is not equivalent to animal or soy milk and expensive too. same with cashew milk.
After turning vegan I tried different milk to make my tea/coffee but when I tried blend of soy and coconut in equal quantity result amazed me as soy flavour masked, taste and consistency improved.
When I post this in a facebook vegan group I got such a response that most of the vegan are searching options to make their vegan tea more delicious like having in non-vegan life.
If you are vegan or thinking to go vegan or even do not thinking must try this tea. I am sure you would enjoy this new taste of your tea.

If you haven't tried cashew milk yet it is the best! I use that in all my recipes that call for milk, perfect creaminess and consistency. I make cashew cheese too, another perfect substitute for vegans with it's taste and consistency.

Yes it is the best but expensive as compare to others.

I never tried that before. I had only coconut and almond milk. Also tried once making rice milk but didnt get it the right way. Buy cashew milk sounds interesting.

In the USA we have a brand, Silk, that makes lots of different nut milks. They have the gotten the price pretty cheap, with a good taste, but the amount of nuts they use is a very small %.
It's the downside of developing a taste for the finer foods like cashews and pine nuts :(
I wish I could afford to eat like that all the time!

Wow thank you for this! Im currently vegetarian/pescatarian but have wondered about going vegan because my body is now rejecting cow milk. I know. Weird.

Ive tried almond milk and it was gross. Ill be trying that soy and coconut milk combination next. Namaste brother 🙏

It is really nice that you are going vegan, all the best for your compassionate life ahead. This combination of milk makes a nice tea and coffee.

Looks delicious! It's wonderful when you stumble upon ways to make vegan food and drink more accessible to people who may not be as open to it! :)

Thanks for this article. Will share it with my Vegan friends

Looks delicious! I would love to sample such foods.

Interesting. In the US it's a bit different. Here you can find almond milk for a very similar price to soy milk now. I don't like almond milk in my coffee though, because it seems to settle on the bottom a lot easier than soy milk. I use a soy milk that has just a bit of sugar in my coffee, and almond milk for almost everything else. I don't really like the taste of coconut milk, but I do like soy milk. To me, soy tastes a lot better than normal milk. Normal milk is too thick as well.
Almond milk or rice milk is far better for cooking than soy, because it doesn't curdle.

Thanks for your feedback and comment!

Good to find you here because I am always looking for vegan and raw food recipes. Even I eat meat or fish once in a while but dont prefer really to buy it or cook it.
Nice videos, keep it up and I will follow your next posts :)

Thanks for your feedback. Hope to see you vegan in future. Followed you back!

For the nice recipes that you are sharing, you will see me always :)

That masala tea sounds very tempting and I am all for alternative milk, although I'm not vegan. But! A perfect cup of tea can't be made in that glass fine sir! That glass is suitable for beer, a proper cup of tea needs to be in a solid, thick mug or cup! By the way I love a good cup of tea 😊

Ha ha it's true this glass is for beer! :) Actually I do not drink beer and secondly I avoid cup generally until and unless I am confirmed that cup is vegan as most of the cups are made of bone ashes.

Oh, right I never thought of that, good thinking, beer glass it is then! At least you can have an extra large cup of tea!

Hi @chetanpadliya,

I really like your posting. I think that the situation is quite similar in many countries. Animal milk is really an integral part of society, and the majority of food has some milk ingredients.
When it comes to coffee, most people seem to drink it with cow milk. However, I am convinced that there are many delcious ways to consume your coffee without any anmial product.
That is why I have started the #dailycupofcoffee challenge where Steemians can post their vegan coffee on two consecutive days.

Since I know that you are a vegan food activist and you like to support the vegan idea, I was wondering if you could help me promoting this contest.
I know that you yourself have hosted many vegan contests/challenges, because I have submitted some entries. Actually, I got the idea to host a contest from you - thanks for being a role model!

I would be very happy if you decide to support this challenge in ways that are possible for you. I would be very honored if you decide, for example, to be an honorar judge of this contest. If you do not like it, it would be absolutely perfect if you would submit an entry or resteem it to your community.

Thanks for your support! Looking forward to receiving your answer.

Best vegan wishes,
Chris

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit](https://steemit.com) Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

Nice and super post. i love the tea and Coffey.
there a little my things about it with goat milk
Goat`s milk's taste depends a lot on the diet fed to the goats. I've had some that is better tasting (sweeter & richer) than cow's milk but my source for goat milk has gone. While I'm lactose intolerant, I'll skip the alternatives to cow's milk. Organic cow's milk is a better choice for me. All of the soy that I'm aware of is now GMO, so I'll pass on that. The rest yield a froth that is not to my liking

As a vegan I do not advocate any animal milk. Thanks.
