Veganism: Can it save our planet?

in vegan •  7 years ago  (edited)

Veganism is a practice where the consumption of animals is forbidden. To  many vegans the commodification of animals is inhumane, this means that  the selling and slaughtering of animals and their byproducts are also  prohibited, likewise wearing clothes and shoes made from animal skin is  forbidden. In spite of the overwhelming pressures in one’s life, there  are limitless reasons why a person would follow this heroic way of life.  Some may choose to do it for the animals they love, some want to save  the planet, some want to shed some weight and look good, some are in  pursuit of perfect health, some are pursuing a spiritual path and some  want all the aforementioned.

Whatever the case, vegans are seriously cool. Vegans are generally  informed and know a thing or two about ‘this and that’, especially  issues pertaining to the environment. Vegan philosophy has gone from  subculture to mainstream. Furthermore, science has proven beyond  reasonable doubt that it is economically and environmentally unfeasible  to sustain a world where we eat animals and wear them for opulence  status. I’ve read once, where it said that “it takes 16 times more water  to produce animal protein than it does to produce plant protein”.  That’s the premise of this dialogue. Statistically speaking this is  clearly one of the reasons we cannot use our precious resources  sparingly and responsibly. The urgency to refrain from eating meat  demands everyone’s attention today. A couple of years back you might  have thought selfishly about this topic and got away with it, but  according to the United Nations Priority Products and Materials reportwe are far better off eating plants than eating meat. Eating animals has dire consequences for our bodies and environment. In the year 2013 alone natural disasters have displaced over 22 million people. If this is not scary, nothing will ever scare you!

Common Sense

Even with the already known observable adverse effects that minerals  processing has on the environment, the so-called meat farming model has a  greater negative impact on the environment. Did you hear that? You are  literally doing more harm to the environment than DeBeers digging up  dust and displacing the earth (they are literally displacing the earth).

Animal products cause more damage than [producing] construction  minerals such as sand or cement, plastics or metals. Biomass and crops  for animals are as damaging as fossil fuels”. Priority Producers and Materials.

Carnism: Logic of the meat eater is depressing

  1. We erode ecologies that we can never ever rebuild
  2. We cut down acres of forests that took millions of years to evolve and
  3. We use all that hijacked land to farm crops that we forcefully feed  to fatten the animals that are going to end up as burgers and kebabs.

Capitalists are stealing nature from you, its done in the name of  DEVELOPMENT. These bankers and social engineers are building world-class  cities, if this excites you, you have just the appropriate amount of  brainwash dosage as prescribed by the ‘MAN’. Who will occupy these  places when everyone is wiped out by a mega tsunami or another  mishandled man-made virus? We have directly and indirectly displaced  life and peoples in the quest for vanity. Today, the average household  has enough food than they ever needed but malnutrition is prevalent. We live to eat, we no longer eat to live.  There is a HUGE difference there. For instance, there are many minerals  and vitamins that make up the human body. We need to be replenishing  our bodies as we use up the food/fuel that energizes our bodies. Every  time we indulge should be an opportunity to bring back what was taken  out of the body. Foolishly, we have depleted the earth’s natural  resources that sustain life. Just like food, we have more information  going through our brains than ever before, but we are so hollow and  miseducated than ever. Humans do not need to eat animals. Why? Animals  source their minerals and vitamins from plants, a man can simply eat  plants and live a healthy long life too. All herbivorous animals are  fattened by plants alone. The largest mammal on land is naturally  vegan/vegetarian, depending on whose zoo they are enslaved in. They do  not need to eat junk to maintain their bulky bodies. So does this mean  grass has fat for the cow? Look it up.

Here is a list of common dietary elements your body needs

Vegan Philosophy:

Veganism is both the practice of abstaining from the use of animal  products, particularly in diet and an associated philosophy that rejects  the commodity status of animals. A follower of either the diet or the  philosophy is known as a vegan.

Vegan etymology:

1944, from vegetable (n.) + -an; coined by English vegetarian Donald  Watson (1910-2005) to distinguish those who abstain from all animal  products (eggs, cheese, etc.) from those who merely refuse to eat the  animals.

Carnism etymology:

Carnism is a concept used in discussions of humanity’s  relation to other animals, defined as a prevailing ideology in which  people support the use and consumption of animal products,  especially meat.

I was surrounded by interesting animals. They all “gave”  something: the farm horse pulled the plow, the lighter horse pulled the  trap, the cows “gave” milk, the hens “gave” eggs and the cockerel was a  useful “alarm clock” – I didn’t realise at  that time that he had another function, too. The sheep “gave” wool. I  could never understand what the pigs “gave”, but they seemed such  friendly creatures – always glad to see me.
