So what's the latest discovery?
It's been a rollercoaster thus far, trying to figure out what foods trigger my poor digestion.
First I thought it was gluten. That was actually correct, but not the only culprit.
Next I cut out alcohol. I felt better, obviously, but I was still getting sick.
So then I thought: why not try a vegan diet? As far as restriction goes, it's quite strict... and then I got sick yesterday.
I can't believe I'm still finding things to eliminate!
I love food, you guys. This hurts my soul.
Anyway, what I had eaten that got me sick was vegan gluten free banana pancakes. The ingredients are:
- banana
- baking powder
- flax egg (made from ground flax and water)
- vanilla extract
- coconut oil
- almond butter
- oatmeal
- gluten free all purpose flour
There is no mistaking it: something in this batter made me terribly sick. Personally, I think it was the almond butter. It's the most common allergen out of the list. What do you guys think? It's time for the 400 to chime in and share what they know! Thank you all so very much! I greatly appreciate not only the fact that you support me on steemit with the upvote, but more importantly, I appreciate the thoughtful advice and help that you've given me.
I'm definitely not an expert when it come to these things....and you definitely have a life experience that I don't (I've got an iron stomach). But, I would look into the flax as I've heard another person tell me that it caused nausea and bloating??? Again, definitely not an expert and throw this out the window if you've eaten plenty of other things with flax and had no issues. Great job and continue your beautiful journey!

Thanks, this is exactly why I asked for other input. Humans are strange and we can have reactions to almost anything, so I can't rule it all out. But if I can narrow it down, it would surely help. So yes, I have eaten things with flax before, but I've also been sick a lot before. So I think maybe I'll go ahead and eliminate both flax and almond from my diet until I've healed, and then I'll go ahead and experiment with each one to find out which one did it.

I hope you don't get sick of my comments underneath your posts. I am just fastinated by your journey and love that you document it on a platform like steem, where I can even reward you for it.
We started about the same time to become really serious about health - went slightly different paths, you going vegan, me going primal. In my mind the first step is to become conscious of the problem and take steps into finding a baseline. A line from where you can explore different variables in diet and exercise and see how they affect you.
You are an inspiration and motivation for me and I applaud you with every new post!
