Why plant based diets dont have to be boring.

One of the biggest misconceptions when trying to promote a plant based diet to people is that living this way is 'boring.' I know myself that it wasn't until my health really suffered on my previous diet of burgers, crisps, chocolate, and milkshakes etc I often thought that vegans just ate grass! This still remains a problem today in society, although thankfully a huge surge in new information linking poor diet to illness, and the realisation that what we have been doing to our animal cousins can no longer be acceptable if we are seriously looking to evolve than anything other than cannibals.

The ironic thing about my own journey was that not only did I not have to worry about munching on grass and getting bored easily, on the contrary, I absolutely fell deeper in love with food than I had ever done! I found myself even more creative in the kitchen as the combinations are endless. What you can do with a literal smorgasbord of different fruit, greens, and vegetables would take much longer than just this article.

See heres the thing, and its a vitally important point. What has happened over time you have TRAINED your taste buds to like all the food which is unhealthy for you. Thats without all the sugar, msgs , and salt etc that is added these days to give you an even higher dopamine hit. You're literally wired for junk. Now the amazing thing is that you can RETRAIN your taste buds to not only consume a plant based diet but to ENJOY it. It takes a few weeks but all those greens you used to leave on your plate you actually start to relish! 5 years ago if you had told me that I would be craving avocados I would've laughed in your face! The same thing applies to everyone, its just a case of rewiring.

Guys these days there really is no excuse, the sheer range of plant based alternatives in supermarkets compared to just a few years ago is huge! Im not saying for one second its all healthy, but 95% of the time it will be healthier than food containing animal products. Its out there now we know meat and dairy causes cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc Its really not as hard as you think, and this is coming from someone who loved a beef pie just a few years ago, If I can do it anyone can! Eat rainbows and keep your vibration high and watch your health soar, you owe it to yourself! Here is a video where I talk further about this

Looks lovely, am seriously trying to move over to plant based. slowly getting there, lol

It didnt happen for me overnight either, I stuck with cheese after I gave up meat for a long time, the main thing is getting on the path in the first place! Keep going :)

Oh that cheese is a big sticking point for lots of people. Probably because it has addictive qualities. Thankfully there are loads of existing and new alternatives coming to market every day!

I have a cheesy recipe coming up in the next few days so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. It'll be called "its a Gary 4 way" in honour of this delicious rant!! ===> http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-3819260/Woman-s-furious-Facebook-rant-against-dairy-free-cheese-goes-viral-vegans-embrace-Gary.html

Have a look at my blog, I'm only new to the platform so could use all the support I can get. Myself and my family are Vegan over 2 years now and love it. Best decision we have ever made!

If you miss cheese, nutritional yeast is your man! Forget all those tasteless vegan cheeses and embrace nooch! You can use it anywhere you'd normally use cheese.....I think.

New improved Vegan food pyramid. LOL

Ah ha, I see, you are already a believer!

Yes! So happy so see a fellow plant murder :D.

I know we are so evil aren't we! Of all the excuses that has to be one of the worst, I often wonder why these people dont start a 'save the carrots' campaign ;)

That's a really good question :D Would love to have you join my Facebook Group Steemit Connection. We are a group of vegan instagrammers who will gather in that group to help each other out :)

Great pop the link in here and Il join!

Thank you, much appreciated!

Zoodles are a staple in my life. I love making a walnut pesto with it. :) Hot or cold it is delicious.

Not tried walnut pesto sounds amazing!

Vegan or plantbased kitchen are the most creative ones!

Absolutely!

I am slowly trying to make my transition. It's coming along, but I'm certainly not there yet.

However, it is so common that I will feed some of my friends something plant-based imitating meat and they will be shocked to learn what it's made out of. A lot of the time they won't even believe me.

Anyways, great article! Thank you.

Thank you, keep going. Like I said it took me some time to get there. Yes the 'meat' products are almost uncanny now and good to get people thinking about alternatives.

Looks colorful and nutritious. I would love to try healthier options. Working in a pharmaceutical company and i know how sickness becomes business. Thanks for the nice article. Hope to see more. 😊

Thanks Nina, Il keep plugging away Im following yours too. Definitely try and go healthier you owe it to yourself ;)

😊

Not boring at all!! Vegan food is amazing! And cooking is such an easy way to improve your health and save money. Following :D

I know like I said my appreciation for food has increased ten fold! Still not the greatest in the kitchen but Im getting there.

Every little thing you learn while cooking is a great tool that lets you then innovate with stuff in the future. It is so fun! Soon you will be just whipping stuff up with no thought at all!
