CRAFTED MOTORCYCLE CALLED "HABAL-HABAL" TRANSPORTED 5 TO 10 PASSENGERS IN A SINGLE TRIP

This is called the "Habal-habal", originated from southeastern part of Mindanao. The only means of transportation of locals from the town proper to any remote areas unreachable by vehicle. Even rough places, habal-habal can still go to its destination. Today, it is rampant on every corners of Visayas and Mindanao.

Habal-habal is a motorcycle with extended wood or bamboo on both sides of motorcycle that can occupy almost ten passengers in a single trip. Sounds ridiculous? Yes, it's true if it is forced to maximize the whole trip.

Categorically, it is prone to accident without any doubt, but people are already used to it compared on walking long distances, not to mention circumstances when you're in a hurry situation forcing you to ride the means.

My first attempt to ride this transport is during my vacation to Mindanao and my friends told me to try to ride this "Habal-habal" but I was reluctant to jump on board, kind of scary for me and an awkward thing to do. To my curiosity I still do it to venture an experience. But yeah, I was amazed and surprise, the cool and fun thing experienced I had. The breezy surroundings continuously squeezing you until the end of route.

The funny thing is, you’re not allowed to move the whole trip since it can affect the balancing movement of the driver. Whereas, the weight of the passengers should balance both side. The driver perfectly estimates you base on your physical body mass beforehand. For example, if you are too heavy and had no passenger yet with the same body mass, you have to wait first for another appropriate for you, or one versus two skinny person. So funny. But what I loved the most of this crafted vehicle is, it is available 24/7 every angle of places in our province. So, people who are keen to go during fiesta celebration having hard time waiting for a ride, well.. the wait is over, “habal-habal” is the most available transportation everywhere.
