A Dead-icated Taxi Driver.
This is my Wednesday entry for the Daily Photo Challenges sponsored by @juliank
Theme: #vehiclephotography
This very 'dead'-icated taxi driver was ordered to pick up a very important client. He was told by his employers that under no circumstance was he to leave until their client (a well known socialite) had been picked up and driven to her desired destination. His boss did mention that the lady in question was inclined to be late but cautioned him to arrive on schedule in the event, that by some strange twist of fate she happened to be ready on time for a change. Apparently she did not like to be kept waiting.
The taxi driver turned up outside her mansion on the outskirts of Follywood and waited for his passenger.
He waited and waited. Hours went past and he rang his boss to say that there was no sign of his passenger. His instructions were to not leave his post unless he was prepared to loose his job. So he continued to wait.
A whole day passed and he contacted his boss again only to be told to keep waiting. The company was simply not prepared to loose the lucrative, long term contract from their client; a client who remained invisible behind the imposing and impregnable walls of her castle. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Eventually the very dead-icated taxi driver was discovered sitting in an upright position behind the steering wheel of his Vauxhall Velox car.........still waiting. A petrified hamburger sat forlornly beside his open window with a note tucked under the plate.
It read, "Dear taxi driver. Please accept this meal as a token of my gratitude for your patience. My butler informed me that you were snoring your head off when he delivered your hamburger to you. I did not think for a moment that this would be the case, as this lapse would not be tolerated by the company you work for. In appreciation for the dedication you have shown for your job, I will dismiss my butler's report, making allowances for his failing eyesight and the lateness of the hour of when your hamburger was sent to you. Unfortunately I have been called away on urgent business and your services are no longer required. My pilot will fly me overseas for an extended period and I am leaving immediately. I do hope the sound of the plane leaving from the rear of my estate will not wake you from your slumber."
Yours truly, Madame Tardy.

Well, he actually looked a lot healthier when he first rocked up to pick up his passenger @debralee but he was kept waiting way too long. A pity his hamburger arrived too late too. (:

Great photo! Indeed, this driver would exactly fit on the driver seat of one of my "dead" locomotives:
😂
