Cycling past DangerZone Highway (in Comfort) … Niagara Escarpment, Canada – Vehicle Photography

in vehiclephotography •  7 years ago  (edited)

While cycling along the ridge of the Niagara Escarpment last summer, I had to smile when I came across this narrow gravel sideroad that someone had named “Dangerzone Highway.” (See close-up of street sign, below main photo)

Bombastic … and comic

Obviously, that seldom-used lane to nowhere is not a “highway”, and it’s hardly even a road. Furthermore, it’s definitely not a “dangerzone.”

But I guess somebody in the Department of Highways had a liking for “the bombastic, melodramatic sound” of 1980s pop music (as AllMusic.com stated so correctly.) And he probably had a sense of humor, too. (“Bombastic, melodramatic” Highway to the Dangerzone   )

A light breeze never hurt anyone

I did not turn onto that “Dangerzone Highway,” since I like riding in comfort, and prefer cruising (unlike Tom) on paved cycling paths or roads.

Inevitably on my cycle rides, I sometimes have to deal with rain or strong wind (as you can see in this photo, of me riding the same recumbent bicycle). But for me, a little bad weather is enough “danger” to deal with on any given day.        [Right-Click Here to Enlarge Photo]

You tour on a recumbent. Wow. How different is it from normal cycle touring. Does it hurt the back more?

The photo has something blurred out in the right lower corner. Watermark?

Cycling in the rain is no fun. Unlike motorcycling

When you're riding a recumbent, nothing hurts. It's like sitting in an easy chair, with pedals. (The bike stays in Canada, so I ride it only when I go home. It's a bit cumbersome to transport.)

The blur is the date stamp. Don't tell anyone else that it's there ... they may not notice.

Cycling in the rain is bloody miserable. I know, I've done too much of it.

Haha.

Oooo. I would have thought otherwise. Riding a cruiser motorcycle is the worst possible thing for me. The weight is on the bum, rather than the legs. Every bump gets transferred to the spine. I assumed a recumbent would be as awkward as a cruiser motorcycle. But then i don't like easy chairs either!

You are Canadian? You worked in Gurgaon as an English teacher?

Yep, Canadian. Worked in Gurgaon as an editor of business reports. For the company Evalueserve (aka EvalueSerf or EvalueSlave), based in Cyber Park, Sector 39, Jharsa.

@majes.tytyty glad to see you are enjoying the life as best as you can.
visiting new places, meeting new people, knowing about their culture.
It's just amazing.

Cycling is fun. Hope you didn't ride through that dangerzone highway. Canadians are funny

sir @majes.tytyty amazing tour and beautiful pictures. I like it very much.

The cycle is very different in comparison to the other cycles. I can imagine that you had enjoyed that journey very much. I also like to ride on my bicycle on a rainy day. It gives me a lot of pleasure and re-energize me. Have a nice adventure again!

Excellent protection for shoes :) Good luck to you and Love.
