¿HAS MODERNISM AFFECTED OUR FAMILY LIFE?
Today, we are going to reflect on how modernism has affected us in our family life. For this, remember how was our coexistence in the 50's.

To begin with, the typical family groups consisted of a normally farmer father, animal breeder and a mother dedicated to household chores. Both were working in an area close to their children.

The children in their time, did not know electronic means that were prevented them to share most of the time together, so that, they made games that were typical of the different times of the year; such as papagayo (comets), games of runche (gurrufio), spinning top (trompo), metras, or some others games using rubber ball, among others.

The important thing of those games was the permanent communication between the boys of the path, of the neighborhood, village, or at home, where they shared experiences, abilities, skills and even feelings. They knew each other perfectly.

The first technological insight in my town was around the years 1955, when the first radio devices appear and with them its innovation and its addictive effects that come as a consequence. For instance, at the time of the news, adults met to keep up with the events of the time and did not accept interruptions during the same. At noon, the women and the rest of the family gathered to listen to the famous soap opera, such as brave martin, the silver masked man, the doña barbara, among others that I remember. The curious thing is that by that time the technology of the moment managed to capture the attention and paralyze all activities, large and small, to pay attention to the chapters that were broadcast every day for an hour on the radio. During that time the streets remained empty. Thus, begins the isolation of communities influenced by technological modernism.

From the 60's, the first black and white television sets appeared in the city of Mérida, repeating the same story as the radio. Here the addictive effects increase exponentially. Children prefer to stay at home watching television all day, instead of going out to play with friends and / or siblings.

From the 80's, electronic video games appear, increasingly sophisticated, which have been isolating our children from the reality that the environment shows them.

Nowadays, I had to attend a birthday of my godfather`s daughter, where there were about 12 guests of the same age, around 14 years old; One of the things that impressed me was that nobody spoke, they listened to music and everyone used their i-phones to communicate to each other by text. To me particularly, it depressed me to see how they become more and more robotic and less sensitive to human feeling.
