Ingredients:
1 kg of flour
½ tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of sugar
100g of butter
1 cup of milk
1 cup of water
1 egg
2 kg of salted semi-hard white cheese
½ liter of oil for frying
Preparation:
Start by mixing and sifting the flour, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the center of the flour and add the milk, water, and egg. Knead well and add the melted and previously warmed butter. Continue kneading until you get a smooth and elastic dough. Let the dough rest for at least 45 minutes. Then, roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is 2 millimeters thick. Cut long strips of dough and the cheese into rectangles the width of a finger and 8 cm long. Wrap each stick of cheese with a strip of dough lengthwise and then in a spiral shape. Place the Tequeños on a tray dusted with wheat flour and reserve until it's time to fry. Pour the oil into a frying pan and wait for it to heat up. Fry the Tequeños in the pan and wait until they are golden brown. Place the Tequeños on absorbent paper to remove excess oil. And ready to enjoy! You can accompany them with your favorite sauces! We recommend making them with a garlic sauce!
