In just two months, Venezuelan inflation - by leagues the highest in the world - accelerated its dizzying pace, going from the annual 4,966 percent recorded at the end of February to over 17,968 percent by the end of April, in a trend that The continuation could lead him to close 2018 with an annual rate above 100,000 percent, economists said.

"What we are seeing at this moment is a gigantic jump in inflation," Steve Hanke, a professor at Johns Hopkins University, one of the world's most respected experts on inflation, told the Nuevo Herald.
"And it could go far beyond what we are seeing today," added Hanke, who calculated the year-on-year rate of 17.968 percent and who carries a daily measurement of the behavior of Venezuelan inflation.
