Is The Verge (XVG) Partnership With Wirecard?

Everyone is speculating as to who the payment processor that Verge is partnering with could be and there really are only a few companies capable of meeting the description we have been given about how the potential partner is.

We will know who the mystery partner is April 17, but for now like everyone else we are left to speculate who it is in an already speculative market.

One such company that I don't see anyone talking about being the potential partner is Wirecard. Wirecard is a large payments company and they also have a payments processing product. In terms of scale, Wirecard is arguably one of the biggest players in the payments space.

A glimpse at Wirecard

  • A global financial services provider
  • The company offers its customers electronic payment transaction solutions and risk management, as well as the issuing and processing of physical and virtual cards
  • $1.84 billion USD revenue in 2017

In their most recent announcement the wording they used, however, was a little odd:

This partner owns one of the largest payment processors on the internet with several hundreds of businesses routing their payment traffic through them.

I am guessing Wirecard's payment processing services are used by more than seven hundred clients, although this could just be improper wording or an international misdirection to throw people off the identity of the processor.

I am not sure I would call Wirecard a household name, they are however a very well-known player in the payments space and have some big clients who use their services (not specifically payment processing), who could be considered household names.

I can't recall this much hype around a cryptocurrency project in a very long time.

I think youre more likely right or atleast close. What I've been hearing is waay off the mark. Amazon? don't think so! Alibaba? dont think so! Pornhub? Meh maybe...

I doubt it's Amazon, they're not a payments processor and Alibaba would most likely partner with Tron. I guess we'll find out in seven hours nonetheless. My money is that it's Adyen or Wirecard. I've seen some crazy wild speculation, some people even saying PayPal (which would be nuts, but highly unlikely).
