Hi, im James, otherwise known around steemit as @dizzyjay !

Im your average empoverished Canadian guy trying to make it as a father and a human in todays society.

Disclosure, ive suffered from depression, anxiety, insomnia and anorexia (currently up to 130 pounds! 35 to go)
I found steemit in October of 2017
At that time my son was about 9 months old and living solely with his mom while i couch surfed to make enough to get us all back together which i did february 1st.
We found a home, were less than 3 weeks away from our second child.
But in that time of homelessness, and seperation from my son, my depression came back worse than ever.
I stopped steeming and focused on my work.
I almost gave up on myself.
I started taking antidepressants in november of last year and as my home and life started to settle down i was able to start steeming again.

It was here on steemit that ive truly broken away from my depression. I can vent, talk. I can actually read about things im passionate about. Steem has been my home since January and i truly beleive its been a blessing on my life.

So what i want to say is, if you suffer from depression or mental illness come to steemit. Find your passion and follow it. Find people like yourself and follow them. Work together and use this platform to break free from your old thoughts and embrace this new world as your home. You wont regret it.

Be creative, be open, the people who are judged on steemit are the ones who halfass their involvement. Be involved every time you comment or post.
Much love.FBBA4155-A41D-417D-817A-7C54696ADE77.jpeg

So very true. Powerful words you speak here @dizzyjay. I've experienced homelessness more times in the past ten years than I can conceivably even count. A mental prison will do that to you won't it? It takes a level of courage to come to Steemit and say "Hey guys, I'm fucked up and don't have all the answers, but I'll share my journey with you" That's where the magic happens, that's when you start meeting people who have a similar thought process, and have been through similar hardship. Ultimately, your growth and healing are given a nice little insurance policy. That policy, in the form of an outlet, and like minded people to talk with. Yes Steemit is amazing for people who suffer from mental health illnesses. Good job on your post @dizzyjay

Just based off of what I've seen and read about you, you're a great dad!

(edit) PS, I'll be back to upvote. Recharging.

Thank you so much @futuremind ive spent too many years allowing my voice to go unheard out of fear of rejection. Unfortunately my voicelessness and feat were the cause of said rejection. I hope i can help build confidence in others like ive found in myself. Educating that there are outlets for every type of person here, thats what i want to do here, welcome new users, make new friends, create discussions, and share my life that i finally feel as though is being lives to whole new potentials. These are the kind of days and discussions i yearn for on steemit. Much love !
ps im not worried about that. not here for upvotes. Here for my humanity and love.

Hey @dizzyjay, nothing wrong with receiving some well deserved upvotes! I'm not here for the money either, but more upvotes = more views, and perhaps your message, and assistance may save someone's life because a single upvote might boost your ranking ever so slightly enough for that individual to see.

Irregardless, you have already found a circle of community, and we are destined to grow!

I think a resteem is more invaluable. But youre right and i accept that aswell. Wont say no to any obviously. Although i probably will turn the earnings off for certain types of posts down the road.thanks again for the support @futuremind

You bet bro. Keep this in mind as well. Some people are not fans of compulsive resteemers. I understand the value in it, and use the service myself, but try to be selective.

Me personally, not a fan of the compulsive resteemers. If I happen on a page and scroll down for loadings of posts and I've still not found original content, I will quickly move on. Over resteeming is doing yourself a disservice.

I try to resteem a couple things a day, while making sure people who visit my page, are able to see my content. This is all personal preference of course, I'm just sharing my perspective on it.

Word. No ive been trying really hard not to over resteem and have been trying to limit my resteems to posts ive commented in, it increases visibility and transparency. But i do get a bit sloppy but its all a learning curve. Shake off bad habits as a minnow is kinda what happens right? If i become a dolphin ill have to be much more responsible actually the recent resteem i have of @intelliguy touches on that alot.

Dude I want to resteem and upvote everything 😄 I understand

That's a good point, I started resteeming less when I realized people could not find anything I was writing. I'm glad you guys are homemoreness now.

keep living friend.
