Veritaseum dump and potential stolen funds (Hack)?!

in veritaseum •  7 years ago

EtherDelta is showing Veritaseum prices down almost 50%! I watched them drop from a large dump of 1400 VERI @ 0.8 Eth down to 0.55 Eth now. With Eth wall orders of 200 Eth+.

If you go to their bitcoin talk page, it looks like there may have been a potential hack where a hacker stole thousands and potentially more equating to $millions.

I do not have access to their slack channel but it looks likes the user who posted an image from slack. Can any Veritaseum slack channel members confirm the hack? Do we know how much has been taken?

It looks like atleast 2000+ VERI have been stolen. Not sure how long the Veri market will take to recover from this and have yet to see Reggie Middleton respond to this outside of slack.

This entire project is incredibly sketchy, so I don't find this "hack" credible.

It is also VERY clear that Veritaseum is being trading back and forth and exploiting the lack of order matching on Etherdelta to paint fake numbers (both 1) volume and 2) price). It's pretty gross.

"Veritaseum enables software-driven P2P capital markets without brokerages, banks or traditional exchanges"

Their website barely makes sense....

Etherdelta allows bids to be higher than the ask allowing the prices to be inflated. If you followed the Nimaq pump of dump of 3000% you will it follows the same pattern. It could be hackers but Veritaseum, as you say, has always been a little sketchy.

so how did it get hacked is the question?! this security issue with crypto is going to be the topic of next 12 months, better load up on security related tokens

Not clear yet. Looks like it was a total of 37,000 Veri that was stolen. Still waiting on more information and that is actually a really great idea.

Great post agent, with my portfolio getting very strong. I am thinking about picking up some of these "new" coins for quick buy and sell.

Nice article. Same mindset here. The blockchain is here to stay. No matter what any crypto will do in the upcoming years. I think that's a conclusion we can make by now. I found this great website: https://www.coincheckup.com The site that lets you check all there is to know about the team, product, communication transparency, advisors and investment statistics on every crypto.

I notice it fell off a cliff too.

Did Veritaseum get hacked or just someone holding 2000 Veri got hacked?

If you go to Veritaseum's bitcoin talk page, it looks like Reggie was hacked.

Damn, ya that is big news

I hate this has happened to Mr. Middleton, but I must say, from an investor's perspective, this is the opportunity I missed out on the first time to get in on this coin at a great price! The coin is still a winner after all!
