Victory in Europe Day

May the 8th, Victory in Europe Day, when German forces surrendered unconditionally to the USA and its allies in 1945 and the war ended in that region. So celebrate, Americans, if you can call having reduced much of Europe to rubble a cause for celebration. You might want to bear in mind, however, that the main victors were the Soviet Communists, whose rule was cemented over the greater part of Europe -- not that having lost perhaps 27 million people and sustaining even more millions of other casualties amounts to much of a victory.

War is a form of madness to which humans have been resorting from time immemorial, and World War II was the greatest of all such outbreaks. All wars are presented by their makers as forms of self-defense or payback for past wars, so the cycle never ends. This aspect of humanity strongly suggests that God made a serious mistake when He created the humans.
