A Career In Rewind: Hangin'... Slangin' (videos)

So, this period is probably the most important part of my career. When DSLR's came out and changed everything for budding filmmakers. Prior to the Canon 7D release our only options were CCD Prosumer cameras and they all looked like shit. I have an extremely high standard in quality for any art I touch. So these were never an option for me. Outside of that, celluloid film was the only other option. And there was never a way for me to afford that entire process. I was still making films and videos with shitty CCD cameras but I never shared them or talked about it. It was a little embarrassing.

Well a few of my friends and I got a 7D and we started running around to parties and shows capturing what we could, throwing quick edits together. We got a chance to do one for Ki:Theory who was not nearly as big as he is now. After this Joel of Ki:Theory and I tried to do an official video together but the timing was never right. We both sort of blew up at the same time. But I have been proud of him since.

Some our friends had this amazing post rock band called Long Division and we LOVED THEM!! So of course we had to throw a video together for them. Long Division is still around and I hope to play some shows with them when Doug's hand is better.

Overall we cut our teeth around this time and started learning how to be a strong team with high standards in quality. All this would lead up to our first official short film. Which I will be covering next week. Until then, stay classy, make art.
