3D Matchmoving test

in video •  7 years ago

This was one of my first experiences with 3D camera match-moving using Syntheyes 3D camera solver. I gave myself a few special goals for this. I wanted the 3d object to stick down to the table without any sliding, I wanted to match the lighting perfectly, I wanted it to look photorealistic, and I wanted to match the shallow depth of field from my DSLR.

I measured everything and scaled my scene according to the real world scale of my kitchen. And I measured every light sources position and relative distance as well as taking note of the type and wattage of every bulb. So I recreated it all as accurately as I could using photometric lights in 3ds Max. I rendered it in Mental Ray and composited it in After Effects using a Z-Depth buffer and the Frischluft plugin to simulate the shallow DOF effect on the render.
