The image-in-picture function in Camtasia Studio, also known as PIP, allows video editors to track accent images or videos on top of an existing video track. This feature is ideal for covering lectures or narrator visuals on top of instructions. However, this tool requires certain specifications that users must follow in order for the image-in-picture to work properly. Users can view their changes in real-time as they make edits to video formats and position in Camtasia. Instructions

Import the desired media files into the Camtasia project using the "Import Media" function in the "Task List." Note that most graphics files, such as GIF and JPG, as well as MOV, WMV, and AVI video files, are supported in the PIP videos. Buy from 2

Switch on the PIP track in the storyboard by selecting "Tracks" followed by "PIP Track" above the storyboard.

Drag 3 and drop the main video into the "Video 1" track. This will take the background video and will last up to the largest area on the screen.

Click and drag the PIP video into the PIP track. This will be the smaller foreground video on top of the background video. The software asks you to choose whether to watch the PIP video on top of the original video or in a side-by-side manner. Click on the radio button next to the desired selection and then press "OK." You can change this view at any time by choosing "View" followed by "Toggle PIP Sample Placement" in the navigation bar. Use your mouse to drag the video along the timeline until you reach the point in the storyboard where you want the PIP video to begin.

Select "Picture - in - Picture (PIP)" followed by "Edit Selected PIP Clip" from the "Task List." You can choose from various editing options such as the height and width of the video, video borders, drop shadows. and fade in / fade out options. Each of these is optional and is not required for the final version.

Click "Done" at the top center of the "Change Selected Items PIP Clip" window to close after making edits.

Select "Produce Video as" to compile the final copy. Select "Custom Production Settings" followed by "MP4 / FLV / SWF Output." Choose a template in the "Appearance" drop-down box to tell Camtasia to either produce the video as a side-by-side PIP video or as an overlay PIP. You will see an example of each style template in the window. Keep pressing "Next" to name the file and save it to a location on the desktop. Select "Finish" to render the final video.
