I do declare! A tip for me! You are very kind @flauwy! I'm feeling inspired now. Does it get any better after the dreaded first months?

@flauwy, how can i repay the gesture? I upvoted a bunch of your stuff.

I am minnow who joined in August. This video is really helpful. I am still confused with resteem service. It seems really risky bet to send 2 sbd to make ROI of 2 sbd if the content is not very good or get lucky by getting noticed.

Also, though I did not use whaleshares/beyondbit tokens, as far as know they works though the process is little bit complex. One has to buy BTS, send it to openledger, buy Whaleshares, then enter to an website.

Hey, welcome to Steemit. I don't think I ever said you will return your money when you use resteeming services. Quite the contrary. You are guaranteed to loose the money. However, you will get some readers. But if you are brand new you probably have no clue how to attract readers in the first place. So I don't think anyone should use resteeming just like that. Only if you have a really good post and it probbaly already got some good upvotes, then it is a good idea to resteem. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough.

Everyone has to keep at it and grind on while they steem on!

Yeah exactly: Grinding Steemit is the right term because it is nothing else as upleveling your World of Warcraft char. We even have Discord and Gold. ;)

Very true good point. Stay safe and get sleep to rest those fingers. lol

Hah, after enough sleep my fingers ready for another round. ;)

Nice, thank u for sharing, followed

Awesome! Steem on.

Thank you, this is a great video. I love the view of the coffee plants!

I am brand new here, literally haven't made a post yet, so all of your information and words of encouragement were exactly what I needed to hear. I appreciate the time you've taken to shepherd the newbies along into the flock.

Djen

Here is a little Tip! for your start here.

Thank you, this is such a gracious thing to do for people starting out. I really appreciate it. :-)

Use it wisely, young Steemian!

Hey @djen, welcome to Steemit! Awesome that you found your way to my post. It is not easy to get people to read your stuff here. You must put an effort into it for every single reader and follower until things start to roll by itself.

You are a saint! I learned so much from your video. And, I really appreciate your following up. It can be lonely out here, and it's so much fun to have a reply to click and read. :-D

I am learning both from your video and your actions. I can see how this could be a welcoming place if people follow your example.

It is not just me doing this. There are many great Steemians out there producing useful content. It is just that Steemit distribution of posts is rubbish for now. But since there are so many other benefits we kind of have to push through the difficult first weeks.

Take a Tip! for your ride. :)

Fabulous post @flauwy - Good what you said about thumbnails. I was wondering if there's any way in or outside steemit to get a thumbnail preview? It sucks to share a post and then immediately realise the thumbnail pic sucks and doesn't give the photo/picture justice - and then scramble to improve it :/

You touched on many other things, namely, developing relationships on the platform. I need to put more into this aspect, for sure. Oh, and using emojis too. Nice tip.

And lastly, so cool that Steemit is providing for you and your family in Costa Rica.

Steem on!

Thx @steemmeupscotty. Awesome name by the way!

There is no preview for the thumbnail. But my Photoshop template is 840x486px and fits perfectly.

Cool - thanks :) I'll try those measurements - and thanks for the Tip!

Hey, it was my pleasure. :)

Take a Tip!

Very nice video and I think there is not enough information and help for Minnows that are getting started! I was honestly also about to give up in the beginning, but then I thought long and hard, and I realized a key is to make post that have value. That means that i give something to the community that other people think is valuable, and thus in a sense our commmnity strengthen because of it. Like you said in the video, a post which is thoughtlessly thrown together and posted is of no real value and thus it won't get any good response. One has to also realize that steemit is not like Facebook where you just post and then wait. Steemit is about giving and getting and I honestly think it's a good idea in the beginning to focus around 80 percent of the time on curating and commenting to build some followers. The comments should not be random but thoughtful and honest l- it makes all the difference. This way when you make posts later they will be seen, as opposed in the beginning when you don't have any followers and you rely on the news page ! Great Post - Resteemed!

Hi @dandesign86! You have just received 0.1 SBD tip from @flauwy!

@dandesign86 I am a total newbie on steemit, thank you so much for the good advice.

It's my pleasure! Most of us here all start out as neewbs ! But everyone has the chance to become a whale, it's up to how much work you want to put in !

Thank you @dandesign86. You are right, giving is the best way to receive on Steemit (and maybe in life?). One leads to the other and all of a sudden you are in a better position than before because of a little work you did for somebody else.

Exactly, that is the key, steemit like you say is no magical place where money grow on trees, you have to work for it just like in real life ! Thanks for your tip and I hope as many people as possible get to read this post !

And thanks for the Resteem! Tip!

Thanks for the valuable info! I've just started myself, posting my art, commenting/replying to comments, and re-steeming! It's tough withing the first month, but I gonna keep on trying, especially now that I have good info from you! :) Thanks so much!

Good luck with everything and Steem on!

Thanks! Same to you

You are really annoying ... giving interesting content and able to be in Costa Rica. I am jealous.
:+1:

Yeah, I am living a really good live and I am very grateful for that. But believe me, this wasn't an easy path for me at all. I just worked hard and followed my heart. When I came to Costa Rica I had NO MONEY in my pockets. Crazy, right? I made it though. You just need to believe in you.

I'm just back from grocery shopping ... so I am halfway there - no money in my pockets.

LOL! That's a good one :D

Good Evening-

Thanks so much for you "calm" helpful video . I am trying ( however only investing a small amount of time daily) to understand the upvoting process. I get it in theory... However I don't understand how often I can upvote .... For instances sometimes I can give 2 cents and MOST times even after being off steemit for 8 or 10 hours .... I can vote but not give any money . I realize this should be SIMPLE ... but I must be missing something! Any way thanks for the informational video . I am not a blogger and doubt I will ever have a big following .... but I will keep trying to post interesting "short" posts about my re-selling business and NOT too many cat photos . Best to you!

Haha, keep the cat photos coming. There is a niche for that for sure.

About the voting process: You burn 2% or your voting power with each upvote. Every 24 hours you regenerate 20% voting power. That means you can upvote 10x each day to keep an equilibrium. As soon as you hit 500 Steem Power you get the slider that allows you to upvote less than 100% each time (confusing: not 100% voting power but 100% upvote which burns 2% voting power). Then you can upvote more often each day with smaller upvotes.

Since you have such a small Steem Power it happens sometimes that you upvotes don't show any higher payout number. Don't get bothered by that because your vote always counts. There are just fluctuations of the upvote pool and the steem price that make it look like nothing. It is never nothing so keep upvoting. As soon as you have gathered a little bit of Steem Power you will see your upvotes all the time.

Thank you, for taking the time to explain! have a great week!

Thanks so much, I was Thinking exactly in blog about this hahahaha.
Very useful the bots, thanks for all this info and encouraging words!!!!

I am glad you found it helpful. This is what it is all about: sharing and supporting. When we all do that Steemit will become a much better platform than it is already.

Take a Tip! with you.

Omg!!! you are so Kind!!! thanks so muuuuch!!!
I really apreciate this man<3

Deep bow

Well I have to say, loved what you say about the tags and the potential to be found, I have to admit i play around with them the first 2 hours of my post cuz I just dont know how to i mean I could use so many, or just wanna get more exposure.
I have to add to this that i have less than 3 weeks on steemit.
but hey, this was the video, And THE GUY i needed to find.
thanks for taking the time to make a video of you on a coffe plantation in Costa Rica, asumo que hablas español entonces, seria mucho mejor.

Good that you find my stuff helpful. Si, hablo Español un poco.

Very usefull really.
forgive the short reply.
but you know its all i can say at the time hahahaha.

It's ok, not all replies have to be long. And you already commented more than anybody else here. ;)

I mean, i was testing Tipu cuz i saw it on one post.
then i did all the process and well they have the instruction in their main page.
so i invested almost 1$ (0.02%earnings) and i started to tip it away, just testing the comands , checking time response , upvote value , thinks im just learning just now, and my money ... vanish i found about it in the reply of the 11th , my found were dry hahahahahaha, but i see it like an expouser mean , an investment.
good side of all i guess :3

Yeah, I see @tipU as in investment as well. You guys are happy and come back. :)

Another thing i learn, dont beg for resteems, pay for them.
let your followers Spread the Word.

What do you mean by that? You pay your followers to resteem? How? Do you announce that in your posts?

yes im starting now so its all i can afort to get some expousure.
10 followers are 10 people that can see my post.

Everyone starts small. Celebrate every small milestone. :)

¿Si escribo en español quizás?
the only reason that i don't make my post(until now) 100% Steempower is because I need to pay Minnowbooster and every other upvoting bot that I can find to get just a little bit more of attention.
but I'm sure thats going to change really soon :3

Thanks! Really helpful information for us newbies on the platform. That title + thumbnail + first sentence tip you talked about can really make a difference. I'll put it to good use.

Fantastic that you found some pearls in my video. Try to improve your game bit by bit. No need to make everything perfect right now. Just make it 1% better each time. :)

Here is a Tip! for you.

thanks for the help <3

You are welcome

Great post. I really appreciate your words of advice. I find the photography contests and challenges inspirational and a great way to meet amazing artists. I'm slowly building and try not to have great monetary expectations. I think you are right about interactions with the community in diverse categories. There is a very broad, supportive and eclectic group of people here all positive.

Another thing to note is that there is a bug with 5 tags on a new post. You can enter 4 tags and on the 5th you get a warning about no more than 5 tags. Post the 4 tags, then after that, you can edit to add one more tag. If you have 5 tags in your browser memory then you can use that and update them on the first submission. I hope that makes sense.

Oh, and by the way, tips! work nicely when you are low on steem.

Oh thanks, I meant that as a tip! to you, too. Perhaps one cancels the other but it's all in the intentions. I hope you are not in the hurricane's path and safe. I guess if you are online that's a good sign.

Hi @trulafountaine, thank you for your comment. Contests and challenges are indeed a great way to meet people, get a better reach and earn some Steem Dollars. I should have mentioned it in the video. These are great advices.

Here is a Tip! from me.

Time will make the difference.

Oh you shouldn't have, @dandesign86. But thanks that you did because now I know that you can send minnowbooster to other accounts as well. That is cool because normally you have a weekly limit of 5 but I assume this took one of yours now and none of mine.

Thanks for such a great video explaining Steemit. The tips are excellent. Finally explained well for me to comprehend. I live in Arizona USA and visit Mexico a lot plus I live about 6 miles from the border with Mexico. I've always wanted to make a road trip to Costa Rica. It would be good to see a coffee plantation too. Perhaps we'll meet in person someday. Take care. And your English is very good too!
Thanks

Arizona sound marvelous. Isn't that where the Hopi tribe live? I always wnated to visit them.

Costa Rica is a bit further down than Mexico:

Countries_NorthAmerica.gif

(Number 9)

That's a few thousand kilometers. But great place to visit. And cheap from where you live to fly. I think the next Airport flying here would be Houston, Texas.

Hi @flauwy, yes it is a bit further, but it's on my bucket list! Wow, did I just say bucket list? Lol! Costa Rica and Belize are both on my "want to go there" list. Arizona is great and all, but I used to live in Miami and visited Key West almost every weekend. I love the festive atmosphere and I love the tropical climate. I know I will be traveling there in the next year or two.
The Hopi are mainly in New Mexico, here in Arizona, it's Navajo, Apache, Tonoho O'odam plus many other tribes. I live in Cochise County where Cochise held off the US Calvary in the Dragoon Mountains at his Stronghold for many years. It's also where Geronimo lived as well.
I wish for you a great day!
@Lymmerik

Sounds like a great place to visit. :)

Here is a Tip! for you.

Thank you @flauwy, that is very kind of you to tip me, a noobie. Much appreciated.

Use it wisely, young Steemian!

That quite helped
will use them eventually :)

I strongly believe that whoever quits after only a month doesn't deserve any success in Steemit and in life for that matter. :)
Here's a couple of things I am doing as a newbie here.
I take the time to learn the game, the rules. I don't rush to post. There's all the time in the world for that , after I get familiar with the platform.
It's not bad to invest a couple of (enter your fiat currency here). I think it will speed up some processes.
And one question. I am curious. How long is the long run for you ? What does it mean ?

Yeah well, I didn't put much thought into the time frame of "long run". I guess it means the next couple of years. Because nobody knows if Steemit still exists in 5 years from now or if somebody with a smarter coin/website took over.

Since this expression is vague I believe that it would be better if we make it a little bit more concerte and specific. It helps you see the future in a more clear way .

Nice approach to help newbies. Thank you.

It is tough when you first join Steemit. Information overload. I try to make it easier bit by bit.

Congratulations @flauwy!

Wow, amazing. Thanks you @arcange!

Rock on, dude. Sure wish I would've seen this vid a year ago. I'm one who gave up on Steemit. I took about a year-long hiatus, and just last month rejoined and found my groove. To me, joining the #openmic was a big leap forward for me. It showed me the importance of the community spirit, and gave me a chance to see and be seen in an enthusiastic crowd of art appreciators.

Wow, you missed a tough but lucrative time to be on Steemit. Well, it is not too late. Go for it now!

Thanks, yeah, I've got a lot of catching up to do. Making moves!

I guess the most money you will make here with Steemit movies. :)

Thanks for valuable support

That is one of the coolest things you can do on Steemit. And one of the best ways to gain followers, which I totally forgot to mention!

I was just in the mood to give up but after reading such motivational post got inspiration .
Keep on supporting and providing good stuff

Don't give up. It is a bit tricky at starters but after reaching a certain point you start scaling. And then it gets interesting. :) Here is a Tip!
