Another thing about quail is different breeds can be pretty different. Using info from a local hatchery that has two varieties, the Bobwhite is a little bigger, but only lays 40-50 eggs per year. The Pharaoh Coturnix is a little smaller, but it lays 200-300 eggs a year. That's a pretty big difference in production.
