Hello ladies and gents. Welcome to another screen share video brought to you by yours truly.

If this is your first time here I'd like to welcome you and hope you enjoy your stay. Feel free to smack that subscribe button if this content adds value to your life in any way, shape, or form.

What I'm about to share with you is powerful. Why is it powerful? Because it's going to save you time. And as you probably know...time is our most valuable resource on the planet.

Let's face it...uploading videos to @dtube or Youtube can be a real drag when they are taking FOREVER to upload a 5 minute video. I know...I feel your pain. At least I did feel your pain before Handbrake came along and completely revolutionized my video uploading experience.

How can you partake in the beautiful land of fast upload speeds via small video files? Here's the skinny...

First...Download Handbrake

Visit https://handbrake.fr/ to download Handbrake for free to your computer.

Next...Choose your video file

Once you run the program, choose the video file you want to use from your hard drive or external drive.

After that...Shrink that baby

Use the Vimeo YouTube 720p30 preset and make sure that the format is MP4. Also make sure that "web optimized" and "align a/v start" are checked. Choose a location to save your new file and then hit the Encode button.

Some videos can take 5-20 minutes to shrink depending on their size. Normal wait time is around 10 minutes which is a heck of a lot better than an normal video file would take to upload.

Finally...Upload like it's hot

Upload your newly-sized video to the video hosting site of your choice.

I'm not going to go into crazy detail on the entire Handbrake process because it's quite simple. If you need the visual...please watch the accompanying video somewhere around this text.

This might be one of the most important posts I ever make because it will save you so much headache and so much time. Drop a comment below if you are blown away and can't wait to upload your videos now!

Peace out Steem homie.

Awesome buddy I need to get in the habit of using handbrake 😉 the OneLoveDTube ipfs node wasn’t liking my 5gb files

Yeah man! It’s one extra step but it’s well worth it

I literally was looking for this solution the other day.

Ask and you shall receive 😊

Very cool tutorial. I typically upload straight from my phone so I don't know what the file size is but I don't usually have any issues uploading. But if it's a big file I'm usually editing through Sony Vegas and it has the ability to adjust the file size as well.

Nice man! Yeah if you are uploading via your phone then more power to ya on that one. I’ll have to look into Sony Vegas

Good stuff man, I use Handbrake for every single one of my videos! Wonderful program. Good job with the tutorial.

Appreciate your kind words, @zainenn. Yeah, it’s a crazy awesome app that’s for sure 💪🏻 Saves SO much time

Handbrake is an awesome tool! I have used it for years working with proprietary videos you can’t put on YouTube or @dtube (unless they add control). So you have to make them mobile friendly, small and web friendly!!!!

Right on @paulcaraway 😀 What line of work are you in

If your interested you should hit up @spenceryan and talk to him about possibly joining the techtv team. It's a fun project and it's still getting off the ground but I believe it's going to be huge!

Noooo... don't downsample the video quality! Just keep the original resolution, encode it and you will half the file size and still deliver high quality videos 😉

That works too! 😃

I use handbrake all the time to make videos smaller for phone apps. Generally though I think it’s a crime to have great gear and shoot in hd and then crush it down to the quality of a tv 10 years ago. I guess the best approach is to think of the size of the screen that your audience will be watching it on and the content of the video. Personally I think if you’re going to crush it for DTube & it’s just a talking head video you may as well go for 480p as that’s what it gets viewed at most of the time when people don’t click watch source.

Thanks for another post @kenmelendez.

Handbreak might also make the playback faster on @dtube since the file won't be as big.
