in video •  7 years ago

In North Japan, the Wara Art Festival recently ran during the September-October rice season, and this is a very inventive and fun way to replant the remaining rice straw from the harvest. Fall is the harvest season, and the festival to celebrate is currently taking place around the world.

The Wara Art Festival has been taking place in Niigata City since 2008, where it started as a creative collaboration between the city's tourism division and Musashino Art University. Rice straw has been widely used in Japan to produce various items, such as tatami mats, but has now been replaced by wood and plastic in many ways. Here is the best display of this year's festival:

1. Giant Lion Straw Sculpture

2. Giant Rhinoceros Straw Scuplture

3. Giant Kong Straw Sculpture

4. Giant Alligator Straw Sculpture

5. The Process of Collecting Straw

6. Seen The Artists Are Straw Weaving

7. Appearance of Making Process of Lion Straw Sculpture
