So I recently just got my hands on two of these badboys to replace the old bulb situation I had setup, the old lights were big, bulky, meant I had to have the cupboards open to deal with the sheer size of the bulb hood and were delicate — I’d smashed many bulbs which stopped video recording many times.

I’d been looking for a way to not only upgrade the lights I had but at the same time get some lights that could be mobile powered. Now first thing first they don’t come with the right batteries OR a power cable so make sure you get a 12v power cable that works — batteries and power cable

I bought two lights and the batteries because I wanted to have them useable for mobile but also I know I’ll be using them in chunks of time and did’nt want to have a bunch of power cables everywhere, that being said I’ll probably get two psu’s to power them direct as a backup.

The ravpower batteries are nice, it uses the standard Sony batteries packs so you might already have some of these if you are into video (NP-F550,NP-F970,NP-F750, NP-F330,NP-F770,NP-F960, NP-F530, NP-F570)

  • Sony NP-F550 Compatible Extra Batteries: Two fully replacement batteries with a bigger capacity of 2900mAh/21.46Wh, and a dual slot charger keep your Sony camera ready to shoot
  • 3 Ways to Charge: Power up via a wall charger, car charger, or even a power bank; Micro-USB 5V/2.1A max input recharges 2 full batteries in just 6 hours
  • Record for Longer with Your Video Camera: Shoot videos for up to 3.5-4 hours per battery while others last for barely 2 hours

The lights have an awesome panel on the back for light colour and power setting, I’ve currently got them both at 25% and it’s more than enough for getting a great shot on the elgato greenscreen.

The panels are light, small, powerful and mobile. i’m going to need to get a bag or something to pack them in because while they are well built I’d wanna make sure the front panels are protected if I’m moving around.

The 5600k setting is perfect for video recording and so far in the limited time I’ve used them they are stable, if your looking to upgrade your video lighting I know for a fact you are gonna love these.

My husband would love these. At some point we will need to get some. Equipment is so expensive. This is great info. I wonder if there is any after market lights that are comparable to these.

i'm afraid you have to pay to play in this industry, especially live streaming, you pay for good gear that lasts, these are CHEAP trust me when i say that. if you go for anything less you won't get great colour referencing or features - £30 per light is CHEAP trust me on that.

I was afraid you would say that. Waugh! okay I am better now..same with photography..I have been taking classes and everything is expensive..no after market there either.. my shoe light cost almost more than my camera...but it is fun and I love it.

My husband and I are thinking of doing stop action. Okay... thanks for this eval on the equipment I will show this post to my husband. :)

This world is really going great, lets imagine how this world will look like without technology, having people like @teamhumble makes us know more about all this innovations.,thanks for this post

That looks bright!!! do you have to apply sunscreeen before sitting down in front of them? haha. Looks like you've got yourself a solid setup going there.

ha! yeah it's really hard to take photos of lights! because well, they are doing what they need to do! :) -- yeah i've got them on 25% of full and they work SWEET. yeah setup is getting better. i need to get a decent MIC next, my apogee mic is great but i'm looking at that SHURE 7b life! :)

I havent looked too much into the mic situation but I'm guessing its a good investment with the noise cancelling features and everything else it can provide. Especially if you are gonna be doing lots of podcasts/DJing etc. Another thing I would love to see on the Steem network, a podcast, can bring on lots of different steemians from across the globe, get it trending on itunes etc

working on the video chat version of that today on @dlive but yeah i'm up for pulling that together, will post a link to the live stream today as i go about setting things up for the video chat.

good stuff, have a good one

including 95CRI, 810 luX at 3 feet, color temperature adjustable 3300-5600 kelvin,LCD display and Sony NPF series battery compatible .Honestly I really like this. Cost is not so high. moreover it full of steel . I think you made right choice

yeah me too for the price and the specs and the bits and pieces it was a perfect fit.

we are growing up a band. may be We need this.

you might need BIGGER throw than these. they are great for close up work against a greenscreen so not sure about that but they are great for what i use them for.

I could probably do with better lights for video. I have an IKEA LED with variable colour temperature for now. At least it doesn't get hot like the old style bulb I had before

yeah you need to have the 5600k for good colour balance in video. this one has that and yes, they don't get hot like before! loving it.
