My big Rant: The ironic trend of VR conferences.

in video360 •  7 years ago  (edited)

Virtual Reality Devices allow anyone to BE anywhere. The Growing trend of Cities hosting Large VR conferences, strictly IRL (in real life) is slightly ironic. If they simply filmed or live streamed the events in 360 VR (booth displays around the cameras), then anyone in the world could attend the event using their mobile phone. (and a cardboard VR viewer) or other VR devices they may have. The resolution may be poor (ricoh theta) but the travel savings are IMMENSE.

Few events are currently live streamed in 360VR, but as we see a growing interest in offering this viewing option, you may start to see a slight decline in actual IRL attendance (by those already familiar with the technology). This can maximize the value of your presentations and increase viewer ratings 5 000 to a million fold. There are benefits to both of course, IRL attendance and VR guest viewing, but at the moment it just seems silly to NOT stream your event in 360VR so that all existing VR owners around the world can attend, using the tech they just bought (and in fact you are promoting). After all, Isn’t that the point of the technology? TelePresence.

So, in closing, if you claim to be in the VR marketplace, but you aren’t recording, or filming demos of your products or services in the 360Video (or 360 3d) format . Or even communicating in VR platforms… You really are missing the point of what Virtual Reality technology can do.So with that note. STOP sending me invites to VR events around the world. Instead, send me the link to your live streaming or recorded 360VR video. I’ll attend it from home. Alternately, if you want me to speak at your Event. I’ll send you a recorded 360 presentation, or I’ll live stream from here in CANADA, or we can meet in a Virtual Environment, there are MANY: vTime, AltSpace, SportsbarI embrace the technology’s uses for Telecommunication and Telepresence, so should you.Let’s meet in a VR world to chat, or load up one of my 360Videos to meet me in Person.or , if you have a 360 camera already. Send me a 360VR MESSAGE!
