Vietnam has changed its face. 5G wants to fight with the United States?

After the defection of many allies, the United States seems to be waiting for friends to fight side by side on the 5G issue. At a time when Southeast Asian countries are speeding up the introduction of 5G mobile communication networks, Vietnam says it will develop its own research and development.

Instead, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam have signed technical agreements with Huawei and decided to import Huawei equipment to build 5G mobile networks.

Earlier, Vietnam's largest mobile operator, Vietnam military electronics and telecommunications company Viettel Group, announced plans to independently develop and build the country's 5G network to avoid the risk of being unable to bear the risk of safety and security of Vietnam's telecommunications network. The company successfully conducted its first 5G test on April 25 and plans to complete all tests within May, while providing 5G demonstration services from the end of the second quarter to the third quarter of 2019.

Viettel, which seems confident, claims to have developed its own chips and devices for 5G networks and has set an ambitious goal of building 80 per cent of the core infrastructure needed to build 5G networks in Vietnam by 2020. "We have invested millions of dollars in developing 5G chips and are working on devices that use 5G chips," the head of the company said. "

Well, the problem is, according to relevant reports, Viettel is a company that lacks the necessary expertise, not to mention the fact that only a few million US dollars can be said to be a drop in the bucket for the development of the most advanced 5G chips, not to mention the successful development of chips. Even the design is difficult to achieve. Who gave them the courage to set such a grand goal?

At the same time, two Vietnamese operators chose devices from South Korean manufacturer Samsung Electronics.

Vietnam has developed its own 5G equipment, which is seen by foreign media as a step-by-step move by the United States. Since 2018, the United States has vigorously promoted the "boycott of Huawei" campaign, but most Southeast Asian countries eventually chose to side with Huawei in defiance of US warnings and signed a technical agreement with Huawei to import Huawei equipment. This is related to Huawei's greater competitiveness in the 5G sector and the fact that equipment prices are more than 10 per cent lower than those of other manufacturers.

However, Vietnam's approach is different, and analysts believe that Vietnam hopes to form common security interests with the United States and consolidate the trust relationship between the two countries. As for how to "win over" the hearts of Americans to achieve the purpose of "sharing adversity" with each other, of course, we have to start with things that make each other feel bad. Analysts believe that Vietnam, under the pretext of its own development, is more to provide an excuse for itself to use the equipment and technology provided by the United States! In other words, it provides the United States with the opportunity to export technology and equipment.

However, the Vietnamese "speed of light" face-changing stunts are really incomparable to others. In February, Vietnamese Communications Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said 5G equipment suppliers did not rule out Huawei and was open to all suppliers, saying Huawei was confident of expanding in Vietnam. How long has it been since then, and the attitude has changed 180 degrees?

I do not know the Vietnamese sun and the moon can learn from the brotherly feelings, the United States see?
