We managed to be unaffected by the fires for most of the trip, but they closed some valleys during Chris's final days here - saving Chris and I from a repeat visit to the exceedingly scary Ashlu Creek (first time, we took one hard look at it and spent an hour climbing out).
As of this weekend the entire backwoods is closed, first time ever. Effective until mid September at least.
