Artefacts plundered in Libya by ISIS found and sold in Spain

Two experts in artefacts – ancient artwork – both aged 31 – have been arrested in Barcelona. They’re suspected of being a part of an worldwide ring that purchased the artefacts from groups connected to IS and sold it.

Ancient objects looted from regions controlled by so-called Islamic State team in Libya have been recovered by police in Spain.

They face charges of membership in a criminal organisation, document falsification, smuggling and funding terrorism.
