What If....

The worst string of words

The two worst words that you could possibly have together is "What If." All at once, when these words team up, theoretical situations flood into the mind causing artificial barriers and begin inspiring doubt. Two small words, that hold in themselves, great contempt and disapproval, all due to a brief period of allowing the mind to wander far enough into the direction of self- sabotage. Why is it that we spoil our ideas immediately after their conception? Well, just like everything else in this world, when we put crap in, we get crap out.... perhaps an explanation is called for..

First off, self doubt isn't natural; it's a learned behavior. Babies don't doubt themselves, because if they did, they would never get anything accomplished. Imagine for a moment how ridiculous it would be if a baby had a complex about standing up and walking. If they acted like adults do about their problems, their internal dialog would convince them that the can get away with crawling for the rest of their lives. Of coarse, this isn't the case, babies are much smarter than adults. They can do absolutely nothing more than slobber all over themselves and poop in their pants all day and still manage to convince their parent that they are the world's most precious resource. There is something inside of them that empowers them to want to explore and see what they can get away with. There is a force inside of them that drives them to constantly improving themselves every single day; curiosity.

Most adult don't get curious anymore because they often are under the impression that they already know everything. When you say something that they don't agree with, they obviously won't say it out right, because they're trying to being polite, but too often in most case, it's in one ear and out the other. The great thing about getting older is that you can experience a wider range of things the world has to offer. The negative side, however is that you tend to develop this silly belief that you know a thing or two about a world that you are oblivious to and you start listening to this inflated voice when considering the future. "Where do all of these beliefs come from?" you may ask... Well, it's simple.. Everywhere..

I remember hearing that you are the average of all of your friends. The people you send the most time with will have a similar pay grade as you. The people who you hang out with will tend to have the same the same interests as you. It's natural to think that you get along with your friends because you have similar interests, but have you ever considered that the only reason that you share interests to begin with is because you picked them up from them? Surprisingly enough, most of the stuff that we claim to love are really just a combination of things that our friends love and those things probably didn't make the list until we met those people. This isn't an absolute statement, obviously, because there are exceptions to the rule, but when you think about it, you may be surprised how much this applies to you and your friend.... So, why does this matter? Well, in short, we all rub off on one another...passions, fears, and all.. In fact,
not only do our friends rub off on us, so do the things we read, watch, and listen to.. We literally just become a creation and expression of everything we come in contact with. With that said, consider what you are most often in contact with.

You know, it only takes a couple drops of some toxins, such as, polonium, to poison the well. Just the same, it only take a few toxic relationships or traditions to destroy your thoughts. What we listen to, influences our mind. Who we associate with, becomes us. What does this mean? well, if you are watching the news while you are at your house and listening to the radio on your way to work, you mind is the product of rape, murder, and violence... Less dramatically, you develop irrational anticipations about the world around you and an inherent lack of ability to take on risk. .. Ok, though, but let's get to the point...

So, to sum this all up, the only reason most people have the bad habit of second guessing themselves, is because they have learned to do it from everything and everyone around them. The garbage that has spewed from the mouths of the diseased, infects those with ears that can't help but accept what they're told. Then, over time the host becomes callused, yet brittle, never being able to overcome the overwhelming urge to crawl through life, instead of standing up. When we were young, we were willing to stand, but as adults, we try to get away with crawling. We have learned the behaviors that we scald the younger generation to avoid. Perhaps it's time to be young once more and be curious like babies.

I absolutely agree with the gentleman in the video, if you live in "what if's" it will tare you apart, everyone can look at a chart a day later and look like a genius, thing is there is always another trade or opportunity around the corner, you just have to make yourself available for it, and if you cant or don't DONT think "what if i did" its irrelevant, move on, next thing.

For instance, what if this train strike didnt happen i would be at work, yet im not and am here, is what it is.
