A bit about us...

This is my first post on steemit.com, so I thought that it would be appropriate to tell the community a little about my wife and me. We are a true modern-day couple. I am an Anglo-American who grew up in Southern California and my wife is a Filipina who grew up in Sabah, Malaysia. We met online and married two years later after both deciding to give up our lives in the comforts of our respective hometowns to move to the Southern Philippines to do full-time ministry. Between the two of us, we speak six languages decently (English, Bahasa Malay, Visaya, Tagalog, Spanish, and S'gaw Karen) and dabble in a few others (i.e. Thai and Cantonese). We are currently doing community development in the low-income community adjacent to our home in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, where the recent flood occurred caused by tropical storm Vinta. Our community was affected and we have been doing our best to help in their recovery.
When we are not ministering, I am working on my Masters of Arts in Intercultural Studies with a concentration in International Development and my wife is working on her local business projects as a home and event stylist/creative, specializing in modern macrame.
