Come take a look at my vintage camera collection.

Howdy folks!

Over the last few months I have been roaming around town dropping into every charity shop I happen to come across. I've always enjoyed finding a bargain and what began as a bit of fun has now become a full-blown hobby, or an obsession according to my daughter. Either way, I am enjoying having something fun to do and a new talent to try and master. I've already become a familiar face at my local photo-shop, who now process at least one roll of film a week.

As well as this, I have also begun repairing cameras too and not just the broken ones I pick up for peanuts. My not-so local antique store has a like-minded fella who works there and he is now supplying me with broken Pentax ME supers. After giving me the green light to try my hands at fixing the first Pentax he has now had 3 of his old cameras brought back from the dead. The first actually turned out to be a sacrificial lamb, in order for me to gain the knowledge I need to be able to repair the many others he has collected over the years. It has also served as a easy source of spare parts, which keeps the cost of the repairs to an absolute minimum. This is a win win situation for the pair of us and the two Pentax ME supers in the picture below have both been repaired in exchange for a developing booth! So this means that in the coming weeks I will be trying my hand at developing my own B&W photos too!!

Here is my collection of vintage cameras and accessories, including light meters, flash and camera stands. I've probably spent around £40 to £50 on the whole collection and I can honestly say that it has been worth every penny.

Very nice collection! I wonder what @adetorrent might make to some of these models..
Cheers for sharing.

Cool! I'm still hanging onto my old Canon AE-1, mostly for nostalgic purposes, even though I never use it anymore.

Thanks for your comment. Is your canon a good model? If so I will look out for one to add to my collection :) I've come across a few canon's but have limited knowledge on how they perform.

It was considered a top 10 camera, I believe, back in the early 80s.

Then it's going on the list!

It really was a sweet camera for its time. I used it for the high school yearbook, and also for my college newspaper.

I'd love to see the school pics, they're always good for a laugh... ;)

I would too. Sadly, I lost my high school yearbooks while I was still in college thirty-five+ years ago...lol...

Nice collection bro, and a superb hobby ta boot. :-)

Thanks buddy and it's growing by the day. I can't seem to go anywhere without buying one or at least looking out for one. I'm still kicking myself for the ones I turned down at the start. I really want to buy myself a really good camera but while I am learning how to use them the Praktica is a good enough start.

The praktica are a good camera.
My brother in law used to swear by the Olympus OM 10.

Thanks, bud. I've been drooling over some of the cameras from the Olympus range...

That's a pretty sweet collection. I love old cameras. I have some rolleis back home at my folks house. One of these days I'm going to have to bring them with me to Japan.

Thanks buddy. I've just added to the collection with an Asahi Pentax sp500 and am waiting for a wide angle lens to be delivered too. Really enjoying this new hobby. I understand your affection towards these types of cameras, they just look so beautiful and the lenses are top quality in my Retinette range. Would love to see your collection if you ever get chance to dig them out.
