Let's Talk About Your Favorite Record.

This is my personal favorite from my collection. Single-sided, 12' 45 RPM white label of Jimmy Ross - First True Love Affair (Larry Levan Mix).

A true disco banger for all eternity. This press is stellar as well. Excellent quality.

Some classic disco right here. It astounds me at times how fresh some of these records can sound even now.

If you're into that sort of stuff, follow me and I'll be uploading some stuff over the next few weeks from my collection that isn't available elsewhere to listen online. Also just into vinyl and music gear in general and will be posting all kinds of stuff about that.

Of course. I can nerd out on vinyl and music gear for days. I thought it might be interesting to slowly upload share my vinyl collection on here as well as I've got a lot of gems that are hard to find.

Nice. Thanks man. Please do share your stuff ! It would be cool to have Steemit's music library grow faster rather than slower though ;)

I just looked it up, this is dope! I never understood all the animosity towards disco in the past

There is a long history of certain musical genres like House, Techno, and Disco being associated with marginalized communities in the United States. As such, were discriminated against by mainstream (read: white people) society at large for a long time, and maybe still even to some degree. I live in the Southern United States, and I still meet people all the time who hear House music and immediately think and say "this is gay club music." Which is really annoying, and representative of deeper prejudices than whether or not they like the music. You should look up the "Disco Demolition Night" thing in Chicago like 1979, I believe. It's pretty indicative of what I'm talking about.

Yea I've actually seen footage of the disco demolition night I think on some old VH1 "I Love The 70s" program. And I was like jesus why are they all so damn mad??! That's an interesting point you make about associating house and techno etc. with marginalized people. It's a shame they don't give it a chance, in the end they're missing out on experiencing something great and a new facet of art and music

My unplayed New Zealand release of "Selling England By The Pound" from Slow Boat records in Wellington.

Nice one. I never got into Genesis much. Where would one start if they were determined to appreciate them?

Nursery Crime, Foxtrot, and Selling England are my sweet spot for Genesis. Stay away from anything post 1976!!!

DÅRFDHS - In The Wake Of The Dark Earth

I’ve got more expensive records, more well known ones, more critical darlings, more thumpy ones, but this ambient LP from Varg and Isorinne is my most listened to album for some time now. I can just skip into it at any time.

It was particularl6 poignant as the record label knew I was after a copy when it had gone out of circulation (I had the digital for ages) and they messaged me to let me know a shop had found it in a warehouse clearance!

That's beautiful! I love when shops and labels come through like that. I imagine you've scored all kinds of goodies working with Inverted, too. You have a discogs collection to peep through maybe ? :) I'm always open to trades, and i can send you mine.

Ha, I got a care package from Lobster Theremin last year which was immense! I also treasure the I Love Acid promos I’ve got, they’re hard to get hold of normally!

^^^ that’s me. I don’t think I’ve got anything I’ve pegged for trade atm, I’m pretty selective over vinyl as I get wadges Of digital, and children hoover up all my money! No harm in sharing though.

Yeah, LT is good people. I was importing a bunch of their stuff to the US for a record shop this year, and they always hooked it up. I also just met one of the guys about to put out a record on ILA. Neowyn, I believe. You have that promo?

No! Not yet! I know they’re having issues with pressing plants at the moment. They’re getting clogged up nowadays with the majors hammering them. I know Pye Corner Audio is one of the forthcoming ones (yes) but I’ll keep an eye out for Neowyn.

I see. That makes a lot of sense. Lots of new pressing operations are opening here in the south US. There are like 3-4 in Texas and Louisiana, where I get around most.

Also this is my discogs account.

I do have that one really scarce Botanic House sampler with Raar's "Sometimes I hear Sirens" if you wanna trade something maybe :)

I always tend to play "Fall Into A Trance" by Jimmy Ross when I dj and always forget how good First True Love Affair is. Can't go wrong with a Larry Levan mix!

I don't know that one. I'm gonna check it out right now!

Let me know what you think and please post more of your favorite disco

That track was great dude. Gonna add that one to my collection ASAP. Have you heard of these guys, Rosebud? Basically they were a novelty German act that just did tripped out disco covers of Pink Floyd songs.
This shit bangs.

Yup. Really dig their version of "Money"
